“To promote and co-ordinate participation in lifelong activity for all young people”

The Hinckley and Bosworth School Sport & Physical Activity Network

The Hinckley and Bosworth School Sport & Physical Activity Network is made up of 41 primary schools, 12 secondary schools, one special school and an Independent school. The priority of the Network Manager is to ensure that high quality PE and school sport is seen as essential by all schools as a contributing factor to high pupil attainment and achievement.

The School Games Organiser role is co-ordinate a programme that enables this network of schools to come together to participate in inter school competition (Level 2 competition). This will build on support and guidance provided to schools to develop their own high quality Intra-School (Level 1 competition)programme. Involvement in both Level 1 and Level 2 competition prepares pupils for competing for the Network against each of the other representative school teams from the 10 Network areas across Leicester-Shire & Rutland at County Finals (Level 3) in a number of different sports.

Underpinning this inclusive competition programme is a sports leadership offer that ensures that there is a workforce of young volunteers available to help deliver the 70+ competitions that take place each year. Volunteers are offered training and support so that they can take on a leader/coach/official role at the different competitions with further training and support to help volunteers transfer into a community based volunteering role just as athletes are encouraged to progress from school to club involvement.

Change4Life Clubs offer opportunities for pupils that are not participating in Level 2 competition to build their confidence and ability level in a supportive club environment and these pupils are also linked to community based initiatives that offer appropriate support, advice and guidance.

Professional Development opportunities for staff employed to deliver PE and school sport are also co-ordinated in conjunction with other partners and is in addition to the work undertaken in School Games competition, inclusion, sports leadership, change4life clubs and school-club link pathways work.
