Student Visa Requirements

STUDENT VISA FOR SPAIN

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid Passport (Passport must be valid for the duration of your study). Where the passport has been issued less than one year, also present the previous expired passport. For passports other than from Jamaica, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis or The Bahamas, the corresponding resident and/or work permit is required.
  1. National visa application form complete, dated and signed by the applicant together with one passport size photograph. (Forms available at the Embassy).
  1. Recent letter from the Bank stating account balance for the last three months, date of the last deposit, and the currency.
  1. Travel itinerary indicating name of passenger (it is not necessary to purchase the airline ticket prior to the submission of the visa application).
  1. Original and photocopy of the Travel Health Insurance in the name of the applicant, with a minimum coverage of thirty thousand (30,000) euros for emergency medical treatment. There should be additional coverage for repatriation of mortal remains. The insurance company should have at least an office in a Schengen State and should cover all costs (the insured should not have to make any up-front payments)
  1. Confirmation of enrolment issued by the academic institution in Spain. If registered in an exchange programme, a letter from the foreign institution will also be required.
  1. Proof of accomodation
  1. For minors, original and photocopy of birth certificate, and when travelling without one of the parents, must also present original letter authorizing travel from the absent parent together with the original and photocopy of that parent’s official identification document.If travelling to Spain without any parent or guardian, a travel authorization is required from them, which includes the name of the study institution and the period of stay in Spain.

IF STAYING LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS:

  1. Police Record Certificate (authenticated by the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into Spanish) Not required for minors.
  1. Medical Certificateissued by a registered Doctor (must use the model provided by the Embassy in English and Spanish)

IMPORTANT!

The student visa fees are as follows:

  • J$8,797.00 (processing fee)
  • J$7,630.00 (translation of police record)
  • J$915.00 (legalization of signature)
  • J$1,556.00 (temporary residence fee)

The visa fees are to be paid in cash upon submission of visa application and are non-refundable.Please, bring exact change.

The processing of student visa applications may take up to one month.

If you requirethe original documents for your records, kindly submit a photocopy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that as soon as you arrive in Spain you will need to contact the nearest police station in order to process your student’s card.
