ARTICLE I – NAME

The name of this organization shall be the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) Student Chapter - “SADHA” or The Student Chapter of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association at Ohio State.

ARTICLE II – Purpose Statement

The objectives of this Organization shall be to cultivate, promote, and sustain the art and science of dental hygiene, to represent and safeguard the common interest of the members of the dental hygiene profession, and to contribute toward the improvement of the oral health of the public.

ARTICLE III – ORGANIZATION

Section I – Membership

The membership of this Organization shall consist of an unlimited number of dental hygiene students who are attending an accredited program of dental/oral hygiene or a program in the process of accreditation by a national agency recognized by CODA or the U.S. Department of Education. If a situation presents that a member should need to be removed, Mrs. Henry (Advisor) will make a decision and take the needed steps.

ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS

The elective officers and duties of this Organization shall be a

  • President –Kimberly Telek : organize meetings, keep the organization on track with purpose statement
  • Vice President- Junior Hygiene Student: help set up any events that may take place and help the president organize
  • Fundraising Chair-Sarah Eckhardt: Organize and order items for toothbrush sales, remind the group what we decided needed to be discussed at the previous meeting
  • Treasurer –Hannah Baer: responsible for depositing checks and letting members know where we stand financially
  • Community Chair-Erin Law: organize events to educate community members about oral health
  • Programs Chair- Melissa Raley: set up lunch and learns and other events for all dental hygiene students to attend

In addition to these officers, representatives from each class shall constitute the Executive Council of this Organization.

Officers will be voted on at the first meeting of each Autumn Semester. If a conflict arises and an officer needs to be removed, Mrs. Henry (Advisor) will make a decision and take needed steps.

ARTICLE V – MEETINGS

Meetings shall be held at least twice a semester. The members shall vote upon the date, time and place at the meeting prior to the meeting to be held.

ARTICLE VI – PRINCIPLES OF ETHICS

The Code of Ethics of this Organization, which shall not be in conflict with the Principles of Ethics of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, shall govern the professional conduct of all members.

This organization and its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) for reasons of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

ARTICLE VII – AMENDMENTS

This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) affirmative vote of the membership provided that the proposed amendments or revisions shall have been presented in writing to the Executive Council and advisor(s) 30 days prior to the voting.
