Minutes of School Council Meeting 8.11.10

and Agenda for Class Council 15.11.10

All present except Tyler (Class 2) and Anya (Class 6)

Following the last meeting, the Year 2 School Council members had written a letter with Mrs Wilson to a variety of printing companies. As a result, Logowear have agreed to provide twenty red caps for our new playground buddies. Well done School Council and Thank you Logowear!

Mrs Wilson asked everyone to report back on discussions about playground buddies in their classes – some classes had discussed it – others hadn’t had opportunity due to various reasons. Mrs Wilson has sent a note round to all classes for names of playground buddies to start next week. Year 2 classes need to give two names who will be playground buddies for the whole of the half term, and Reception and Year 1 classes will have one person from each class who changes each week. Mrs Wilson will need to meet with next week’s playground buddies during Class Council next week.

At the meeting we talked about clubs – Gage and Noah were keen to have a science club set up again. Gabriel suggested an archaeology club. Other clubs suggested were looking at fossils, Art and learning another language. At next week’s class council, the school council have been asked to find out what other sorts of clubs the children might like to have.

Mrs Wilson then talked to the children about how we could make sure that our school treats everyone fairly. Some good ideas were suggested about what it means to be fair and how we can make sure that everyone feels welcome in our school.

It is important for everyone to remember that the Class Council and School Council are the places where everyone has a voice. If you would like to talk about anything or try to change something happening in school, this is the opportunity to do so. At each class council, there should be an opportunity for children to bring up anything else that they would like to discuss in class or school council.

Please could everyone hold a Class Council Meeting on 15/11/10 and discuss/carry out the following:

  • Read out the minutes
  • List of clubs that children might like
  • Any other ideas that children would like discussed.

Please could school council members let Mrs Wilson have written responses after the meeting on Monday,

Thank You from the School Council
