Donal O’Connell– Director, Pegasus Capital

Dónal has significant experience in the ICT and healthtech sectors, specialising in cross border M&A. Dónal is a former Associate Director of IBI Corporate Finance where he primarily focused on advising mid-market Irish businesses and entrepreneurs on a wide variety of M&A transactions, debt & equity fundraisings and other strategic matters. Lead advisor on the sales of Gencell Biosystems (sold to Becton Dickinson Inc.), Cappella (sold to Stentys SA), The Jelly Bean Factory (sold to Cloetta AB), Lotus Facilities Management (sold to Aramark), Stokes Bio (sold to Life Technologies Inc.) and Firecrest Clinical (sold to Icon plc) Lead advisor on numerous healthtech institutional equity fundraisings including Embo Medical and Poly Pico technologies.

Dónal is an honours graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management, the National University of Ireland, Galway and University College Dublin’s Smurfit Graduate School of Business

Nick Ashmore- Chief Executive, The Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland

Nick Ashmore is Chief Executive of the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI). Prior to taking up this role he served as Project Director during the setup of the SBCI. He joined the NTMA as part of the team managing the National Pensions Reserve Fund (NPRF) in 2006, where he served as Head of Private Equity and Infrastructure before becoming Deputy Director in 2011.

Before joining the NTMA Nick was an Investment Manager with Greenaap Consultants Limited, a private family office. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton in Glasgow and Edinburgh and is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen in Accountancy and a member of the Scottish Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Tom Early – Senior Investment Adviser, Enterprise Ireland

Working within the investment services division involves in-depth strategic and financial reviews of Client Company’s and negotiating with their banks to restructure existing facilities or secure additional finance.
Tom has extensive experience in assisting companies protect their business as a result of the economic downturn, as well as turnaround and crisis management for companies experiencing difficulties. Assisting in the development and implementation of controls and metrics in order to achieve these plans. Prior to joining EnterpriseIreland, Tom worked for over 9 years across multiple industries including telecoms, banking and consulting.

Tom holds a primary degree in Business studies (specialising in Economics & Finance) from Waterford Institute of Technology, is a qualified CIMA Accountant and holds a Master’s of Business from the IMI. In addition Tom has completed executive training courses in IMD (Switzerland) and EVCA.
