Seeking images to use in
Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: January 13th, 2014
This popular contest will showcase photos that exemplify the work of charities and other nonprofit organizations in Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy. We are seeking images of people providing direct assistance through a charitable organization or a volunteer effort that represents the spirit of giving. Activities include fundraising events, delivery of services, volunteers in action, and others.
Selected photos will be printed in either black & white or color. Photo placement within Giving USA includes the front and back cover, throughout the main report, in supplementary reports, and on the website at www.givingusareports.org. Photos will always be credited to the photographer wherever and whenever they are published. Selected photos may be used in the 2014 edition or in future editions.
Entries must be:
· Minimum 300 dpi;
· Electronic format (JPEG preferred);
· Owned by the entrant (individual or organization), who will retain the rights but will agree to give Giving USA, under the auspices of Indiana University, permission to use the photo at no charge; and
· Accompanied by an entry form, including assurance that photographer has obtained permission from the subject(s) of the photo, if required, that the photo can be published.
The judges will be looking for photos that convey the importance of giving to a charity, tell a story through imagery, and are not dominated by a logo, name, or service mark of any one charity. The judges’ selection will be final. Photos submitted with captions will be given preference.
Winning entries will receive:
Their photos placed in Giving USA reports or on www.givingusareports.org, and
Acknowledgement in Giving USA 2014 and future editions (if applicable)!
Photographers who submit photos that are chosen to be on the front cover of Giving USA will receive a complimentary paperback copy of Giving USA for the respective year of publication (a $75 retail value)!
Submissions must be accompanied by a completed entry form, one form per submission. No more than five submissions per organization or individual photographer are allowed.
