STUDENT SHOW

RULES & INFORMATION

(See Triangle Website for Gymkhana Rules)

The purpose of the student show is friendly competition, learning “the ropes” of showing, and having fun! List your horse preference and division in advance on the sign up sheet in the barn . The following will help you get started:

  1. Please arrive no earlier than 45 minutes before start of show if you are in the first division. Your horse will be in for you, but you must groom and tack up. Braiding is not necessary.
  2. Parents! Please come to the entry booth inside the indoor ring and sign up your child as soon as you arrive. You will give their name, pick up a number for them, and make payment at that time.
  3. A division consists of three classes: (see prize list.) Walk/trot, walk/trot/canter, and over fences, or four, in the case of the Beginner division, which begins with a walk class.

Each regular class costs $10 to enter. So a division is $30 (or $40 for Beginner.)

Each division takes approximately ½ hr. co complete, depending on the judge.

  1. ATTIRE: Does not need to be formal, but as well-groomed as possible:

A dark jacket if you have one

White or light colored shirt buttoned to the top

Hairnet or braids for long hair

Jodphurs, beeches, or stretch pants

Riding books or some other type of boot or shoe with a hard sole and heel.

Riding helmet!

DURING THE SHOW

NO SCHOOLING is allowed on horses, except in special cases permitted by the show committee. Horses are ridden enough during the show.

Riders must enter the proper class for their ability.

No cross entering is allowed, i.e, if you are entered in the Beginner division, you can’t enter classes in another division.

Most horses are ridden in several divisions, so be aware that if your horse is in the division after yours, you must hand over the horse to the next rider immediately.
