Dear Parent/Carer

School Ski/Snowboard trip to Pila, Italy

The school will be running a trip to the ski resort of Pila, Italy in April2018. The aim of this trip is to provide an opportunity to pursue or be introduced to winter sports and develop both sporting and social skills. We will travel by coach, leaving Forres Academy car park at approx. 0600 hrs on Saturday31/03/18 returning to the Academy on Sunday08/04/18at approx. 1800 hrs. The trip is open to pupils of any age and ability and will accommodate both skiers and snowboarders

The package:

• Full transport to and from the Uk to the school
• 6 nights in the 3* Hotel Beau Sejour in Etroubles, Aosta, Italy (bank, spar and pharmacy close by).
• 6 Day lift pass and instruction by Interski instructors.
• Ski, boot and helmet hire included in price, you are welcome to bring your own equipment however.
• Breakfast provided in the hotel, hot snacks on the mountain for Lunch and evening meals provided.
• Winter sports insurance provided as well as full bonding through ATOL and ABTA
• Full Après ski programme of activities i.e. ice skating, pizza night, bowling etc.
• End of week awards ceremony.
• Ski trip Hoodie
• Helmet hire included, ( all under 18’s by Italian Law must wear one)

Some possible extras:

• If snowboarding there is an additional £30 to pay
• Winter clothing can be hired in resort for £30 pounds
• Spending money to cover souvenirs, drinks (i.e. fizzy juice at dinner), snacks etc.
• Wi-Fi access for pupils is 10 euros a week.

Trip costs and activities are inclusive in the price.

We will travel from Forres to Dover on the Saturday 31/03/18 by coach, and cross toCalais via ferry. A packed lunch will be required for the coach on way out, but breakfast (on return leg) is included on the ferry. During the trip we will be based in the town of Etroubles just to the North of Aosta, an ideal base as we are close the resort but also in a quiet alpine village. Each day the coach will take us to the lift station and back to the hotel after the days skiing. Each evening will include an après ski activity in the local area.

We try to ensure that all pupils have an equal opportunity to apply and are aware that this is an expensive trip; therefore, we propose to spread the cost over as many months as possible. The cost involved should not prevent any pupil from applying. Financial support may be available. If you wish to consider this, it is very important that you contact me before the deadline for application

The cost of this trip inclusive of all the above is £879 which we propose to spread over the following payments.

Payment cards will be issued to allow for smaller payments on a monthly basis and to act as a receipt. All cheques should be made payable to Forres Academy.

I would ask that you complete the tear off slip and return it to the office by Friday 16th September. This will allow me to see if the trip will be viable and allow me to get further information out to you before the holidays.

Last year the trip was very popular and oversubscribed, if this occurs again names will be drawn out of a hat, a reserve list will operate to provide an opportunity for those who miss initial selection. As a department we believe in rewarding positive behaviour therefore we must take pupil behaviour within school into account when allocating final places. Furthermore, it is very important that good behaviour and a positive approach to studies and attendance are demonstrated throughout the school. It makes it extremely difficult for any trip organiser to justify the inclusion of a pupil who is posing a number of problems elsewhere.
