Let’s take her dress away and make her wear an old grey skirt and wooden shoes. That is what

is good for you! Just look at the proud princess.

Stepsister 2:

Get out of there! To the kitchen, Cinderella!

was always dirty with ash and dust. The stepsisters did nothing but try new dresses on.

Stepmother:

Can you hear? Something’s happening now out. The Herald’s calling out some news. Let’s go out.

Herald:

Ladies and gentlemen. The king’s son, the prince is going to married, so the king is giving a

ball. All maidens of noble berth are invited for the ball. The prince will choose our future

queen. God Save the King!

Stepsister 2:

Oh, we are invited for the ball. What shall we wear, mother? What shall we wear?

Stepsister 1:

I will wear my red velvet dress with French trimming. Where are my jewellery?

Stepsister 2:

And I will put on my gold- flowery cloak and my diamond necklace. I want to shine.

Cinderella, comb our hair for us! Clean our shoes. We are going to the ball at the kings

palace!

Cinderella:

Can I go to the palace for the ball with you, please?

Stepmother:

You, Cinderella? You all covered with dust and dirt, and you want to go to the palace? You

can’t dance. We would be ashamed of you. Never!

Stepsister 1:

Do I look right, mother?

Stepmother:

You look very beautiful in this dress. The prince will fall in love with you, my sweetheart.

Stepsister 2:

And me, mother?

Stepmother;

Wonderful. You look like a rose.

( to Cinderella ) And you, you must pick peas and lentils out of the ash.

Let’s go my daughters! We will be dancing at the ball.

Scene 2

Cinderella:

They left for the ball. I have to sit here sorting lentils and peas until midnight. If only my

mother knew it. I miss my mother. I wish I could go to the king’s ball.

Who is it?

Fairly:

It’s me, your godmother. Why are you crying? Would you like to go dancing at the ball,

Cinderella?

Cinderella:

How could I go in the dirty clothes? I’m dressed in rags. I have to pick peas and lentils out of the ash.

Fairly:

Don’t worry Cinderella. You will be able to go to the ball. But you must come back before

midnight.

Shake and quiver, little tree

Throw gold and silver down to me.

Cinderella:

What a beautiful silk dress! Brilliant! And a pear necklace. Oh, thank you. I’m so happy. I

will be dancing at the palace.

Fairly:

Have a good time. But remember! You must be back before midnight.

Cinderella:

I will promise. Bye, bye. I’m going to the ball.

Scene 3

Girl 1:

Who is entering the ballroom/ who is that beautiful girl?

Girl 2:

She must be a foreign princess. She’s wearing a royal dress and a gold necklace.

Girl 3:

She’ s wearing golden shoes!

Girl 4:

Where is she from? What’s her name?

Girl 3:

Look, the prince is coming to her and taking her by the hand.

Prince:

I will be happy to dance with you.

Cinderella:

I’m pleased to dance , Your Majesty.

Prince:

You look so wonderful. Where are you from? What’s your name?

Cinderella:

I must go. I should leave before midnight.

Prince:

Don’t run away from me. Where are you going?

Girl 1:

She’s lost her shoe.

Girls:

Golden shoe...golden shoe...on the stairs.

Prince:

No one will be my wife except her. Where is my beautiful girl? I will find her.

( to herald )

Let’s go and look for her. Quickly!

Scene 4

Narrator:

The beautiful dress disappeared and Cinderella was again in the house dressed in her rags. In

the meantime the prince and herald were walking from door to door looking for the beautiful

girl.

Cinderella ( to her stepsisters ):

Did you have a good time yesterday?

Stepsiter 2:

No. There was a princess on the ball and the prince danced only with her. ( knocking at the door ).

Stepmother:

Com in! Good heavens! Your Majesty.

Herald:

How many daughters have you got?

Stepmother:

Two.

Herald:

We are looking for the person whose foot will fit the golden shoe.

Stepsister 1:

It will be my foot that fits the shoe. ( trying it on )

Herald:

Oh, no it’s too small. It’s for a dainty foot.

Girls:

The shoe is too tight

The shoe is not right

Stepsister 2:

Maybe mine ( trying on )

Herald:

No, it will not fit you. Your feet are too large. ( after a while )

Is there any other young woman in the house?

Cinderella:

Yes, there is. I’m here. Could I try the shoe on?

Stepmother:

We have her for nothing!

Stepsister:

She is much too dirty. The shoe would never fit her.

Prince:

She has a right to try the shoe. Try it on. ( Cinderella’s putting the shoe on )

The shoe fits perfectly.

Prince:

You are my dance partner. You are my true bride. You will be my wife.

Stepsister:

Oh, dear! You are the beautiful lady we saw at the ball. Forgive us all the ill treatment.

Cinderella:

I forgive you with all my heart and I want you to always love me. ( taking them by hands ).

Prince:

Let’s go to the palace for the wedding feast.

Narrator:

Cinderella and the prince were happy. They all danced and had lots of delicious food to eat. Then the prince and Cinderella lived long and happily ever after.
