Sample café menu
The café at The National Coal Mining Museum is open 7 days a week from 9am till 5pm. Run by Asparagus Green, we pride ourselves on serving the freshest Yorkshire produce the region has to offer plus all our coffee is roasted in Huddersfield and tea is sourced from Taylors of Harrogate.
Breakfast is served daily from 9am to 11am where we serve the following - prices start from £2.95
· Yorkshire miners breakfast
· Small Yorkshire miners breakfast
· Scrambled eggs on toast.
· Poached eggs on toast
· Yorkshire bacon or sausage butty served on a brioche bun
Hot food is served from 11.30am till 3pm (during busy periods this can be extended). These dishes are on a rotation basis and are by no means definitive and can change without prior notice - prices start from £6.50
We cater for all dietary requirements. On arrival please ask a member of staff who will be more than happy to cater for your particular requirements.
· Cannon Hall Yorkshire Sausages served on a bed of mashed potato and garden peas - all served in a giant Yorkshire pudding drizzled with Onion gravy.
· Villa Farm Shop Yorkshire beef lasagne served with garden salad garnish & chunky chips
· Yorkshire reared 100% beef burger topped with bacon and cheese served in a toasted brioche bun with garden salad garnish & chips.
· Yorkshire beef stew served with mashed potato & fresh garden vegetables.
· Villa Farm Shop beef Chilli-con-carne served on a bed of fluffy rice.
· Sunday Roast of the day from Yorkshire meat with fresh, seasonal garden vegetables.
In addition we serve a selection of freshly made sandwiches using Fosters bakery bread, these are made with meat, Fish & Vegetarian fillings. Prices from £2.95
Homemade soup of the day made with Yorkshire grown vegetables. All our soup is Gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free and is is served with Yorkshire sourdough bread and butter. £3.50

Children’s food
We are happy to serve half portions of the main course; however, we do have a designated children’s menu which includes the following…… £4.95

All of the above are served with a carton of fresh juice & piece of fruit.
We also have a children’s pick & mix area where children can choose from the following items.

Please note, during quieter time and to make sure we serve you the freshest possible produce, some of the items above will not be available, but please feel free to ask a member of staff should there be anything that you are looking for and they will be more than happy to help.
We also serve a large selection of freshly baked cakes to compliment your tea or coffee after a visit down the mine or why not pre book one of our afternoon teas.
