A. Read the following story about Lucy’s adventure.
Dr Ho invited Lucy to his laboratory last Sunday. He took out a bottle of red liquid and said, “I’ve invented some medicine. If you drink it, you’ll become stronger. Do you want to try it?”
Lucy wished to become a big and powerful cat, so she took a mouthful of the medicine. A few seconds later, Lucy’s body started to change. But, she did not get stronger, instead she became smaller!
She was so small that Dr Ho was unable to see her. “Where are you, Lucy?” asked Dr Ho. When he moved his left foot, he nearly stepped on Lucy. Lucy soon got into a panic. At this moment, a creature came to help her. He pushed Lucy into a ditch.
“Thank you for saving me,” said Lucy. “My name’s Lucy. Who are you? Where are we?”
“I’m Bill. I’m an amoeba,” said Bill. “This is a ditch. It’s my home.”
Lucy looked at the family photographs on the wall and said, “Bill, you have a big family. Can you tell me about your family?”
Bill pointed to one of the photographs and said, “The woman with short hair is my grandma. This is my grandpa. He wears a long beard,” said Bill. “The man with the moustache is my father, and this is me.”
Bill continued, “Come with me. Let me introduce you to my brothers and sisters.”
“I’d love to meet them,” Lucy answered.
Suddenly, Lucy felt dizzy and fainted. When she woke up, she found herself in Dr Ho’s laboratory. “The medicine has lost its effect. Do you feel better now, Lucy?” asked Dr Ho.
“Would you please give me the medicine again, Dr Ho? I want to meet Bill’s brothers and sisters,” said Lucy.
Dr Ho was puzzled and said, “What nonsense are you talking about, Lucy?”
