Committee Members present: Lotvedt, Bednarz, and Kraft. Also present wereCity Auditor Hauck, Fire Chief Kurtyka, Fireman Williams, and Superintendent McNeff. Mayor Cichos was present by speaker phone.

Chairman Lotvedtcalled the meeting to order at 3pm. There were no additions to the agenda. The agenda was changed to give an update on the fire hall first.

Motion byBednarzto approve the minutes of the October 17, 2012meeting. Second by Kraft, all voting yes, motion carried.

Chairman Lotvedt gave an update on the new Fire Hall plans. Lotvedt has requested an updated plan from the architects and has not heard back from them. He should also receive an updated cost proposal. With the money that has been paid to the architect, the city should have more information than it does. The soil tests came back very good as expected. The fire department is working with I Design to get a large thermometer sign to put on the fire hall land showing the amount of funds that are raised. The updated cost proposal is needed in order to put a goal on the sign. The Firemen’s Auxiliary is still waiting for a permit so they can solicit for funds for the fundraising efforts.

An Ag Show is scheduled to be held in the Armory on February 1, 2013. The school is concerned about what kind of equipment is going to be driven on the floor. Rusty Gebhardt and Lila Harstad, with the Ag Show Committee, were present to discuss the things that will be driven on the Armory Floor. A 30 HP John Deere tractor will be brought in and a Bobcat will be driven in straight. It will not be turning. Gebhardt stated that they will change the set-up of the show so all of the equipment will be placed by the overhead door. This will keep the bigger items off the main part of the floor. Superintendent McNeff was satisfied with the changes and requested that plywood or some other covering be used under the Bobcat to make sure there is no damage caused to the floor.

Gebhardt also asked about the circus that is expected to be in the Armory on April 7, 2013. If there are any problems with the circus he would like to know now instead of a week before the show. As long as the floor is covered, there shouldn’t be a problem. The circus will not be able to use a boom truck to put things in the rafters. The school agreed to let them utilize the lift they have in the Armory that they use to change light bulbs.

The committee discussed the deterioration of the Armory Floor. The floor is not holding up as expected. Gerrells has been contacted, but since the floor was removed and put back down in April, the warranty was voided so Gerrells will probably not be able to help in any way. Discussion was held on stripping out the asbestos tile and leaving a concrete floor. It would be nice to find a used portable wood floor to put on the concrete. The committee will continue searching for solutions to the problem.

Gebhardt asked if new tables were available for use in the Armory. No tables have been purchased since there would need to be a rental fee charged for new tables and since there is someone in town that rents out tables, the city felt it would not be appropriate to compete for business. The Armory contract states that the tables and chairs are included in the rental price, but it does not state that they have to be used, nor are entities charged extra if they do use them.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at3:31pm.
