Summary and purpose of document

Document provides a draft Announcement on acceptance of papers for TECO 2006, which includes the Provisional Programme, Information on Local Arrangements, Registration Form
and Layout Format for Papers.

Action proposed

The Management Group Is invited to agree on the Provisional Programme and other arrangements for TECO-2006. The results of the evaluation of abstracts for papers will be presented at the meeting.

Action required:To submit the camera-ready paper(s) of accepted abstracts for presentation by 15 October 2006 and the completed Registration Form by 31August 2006 at the latest to the WMO Secretariat

Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to refer to WMO circular letter ref. WWW/IMOP/TECO-2006 dated 15 March 2006 announcing the WMO Technical Conference on Meteorological and Environmental Instruments and Methods of Observation (TECO-2006), which will be held in Geneva from 4 to 6 December 2006 and will precede the fourteenth session of the Commission for Instruments and Methods of Observations (Geneva, 7-14 December 2006).

Inow have the pleasure to inform you on behalf of DrR.Canterford (Australia), acting president of CIMO and the chairman of the International Programme Committee of TECO-2006 (IPC), of the decisions of the IPC as regards the papers accepted for presentation. The papers accepted for oral or poster presentation are listed in the Provisional Programme as contained in AnnexI. Authors whose papers or posters have not been accepted will not be notified separately.

The oral presentations shall not exceed 15 minutes and can only be given when the corresponding paper is included in the WMO Conference publication and presented either by the author or one of the co-authors. It is currently planned to conduct the conference in English only.

Submitted papers and posters will be published in the WMO Conference publication, which will be prepared in CDROM format. It is essential that the camera-ready manuscripts comply with the following requirements:

-Documents should be preferable in PDF, but MS WORD is also accepted;

-Care must be taken that all fonts are embedded in the converted PDF file;

-Figures and graphs should be of high resolution, a low quality JPG format should be avoided;

-Page size should be A4;

-Format is given in Annex IV;

-Posters are accepted also in PowerPoint.

The poster presentations have to be brought to TECO-2006 by the authors themselves. They should not exceed 4 pages with a maximum size of A3 (double size of A4, see Annex V) each.

In Annex II, information is provided on local arrangements regarding TECO2006. Participants are invited to send the Registration Form (Annex III) to the WMO Secretariat not later than 31August2006.

I should like to inform you that only very limited financial resources are available to WMO to support participants. A committee will be established to consider the requests for financial assistance and give priority to authors from developing countries whose papers have been selected for oral presentation. You may note that a request for financial support has to be submitted by the Permanent Representative of your country with WMO and will be considered within available resources.

The Technical Conference on Meteorological and Environmental Instruments and Methods of Observation (ECO-2006) will be held at the WMO Secretariat from 4 to 6 December 2006.

It is currently planned to conduct the Conference in English only.

The registration for the delegates of TECO-2006 will take place at the Registration Desk, starting on Monday, 4 December, from 08.00 a.m.to 10.00 a.m. Registration will continue throughout the Conference. Delegates will receive identification cards at the time of registration.
