Aim of volunteer role / We are looking for a volunteer for 2 short-term projects:
1)To identify what motivates different cohorts of people to volunteer, and potential barriers to volunteering. To identify innovative approaches that are attracting different demographics of people into volunteering nationally and locally
2)To produce a reader-friendly Volunteering Innovation report that will give Buckinghamshire voluntary and community sector organisations ideas for new models and methods of attracting and retaining volunteers.
Reporting to / Hazel Finney, Lead - Volunteering
Start date / ASAP as target date for completion of the final report is mid- November 2017.
Assignment length / 10 days estimated to be required.
Hours and days volunteeredare variable subject to mutual agreement.
Location / Apart from occasional meetings at our Monks Risborough office, the role can be carried out remotely.
Main tasks /
  • Carry out desk research using CIB data (e.g. 2017 State of the Sector report) and identify a variety of external sources (e.g. NCVO’s UK Civil Society Almanac 2017, Community Life Survey 2016-2017)
  • Analyse the research
  • Write a report which distils the information into a simple format.

Skills/Experience /
  • Proven research skills, drawing on both online and printed sources
  • Ability to analyse and distil a large volume of information
  • Previous experience of producing clear, concise and interesting reports
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent written skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
