UmangChadda Named

PTR Louisiana Member of the Year

Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards last week during the 2016 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, was held February 17-20, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

UmangChadda, of Houma, Louisiana, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State. This award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.

A PTR member since 2004, Chadda is a Professional in two Education Pathways: Adult Development and 10 & Under. Chadda is also a PTR workshop host and Clinician, affording aspiring teaching pros the opportunity to become certified. He is an advocate of PTR and an ambassador for the game.

Chadda became the Director of Tennis Operations for Renaissance Family Fitness in December 2013, when the sport had not developed in the small town of Houma. Since his arrival, Renaissance is now offering new programs to 250 juniors and adults on the recreational and competitive level including eight USTA ranking tennis tournaments and after school PE tennis programs. Under his directorship Renaissance has become the official host site for Vanderbilt Catholic High School tennis team.

Chadda’s tennis career started as a player when he was a top ranked junior and national champion in India. His skills led him to be selected as a player for the India Junior Davis Cup team. As time went on, Chadda turned to management and coaching tennis. His teaching approach not only builds athletes on the court, but more importantly, prepares them for a successful life off the court as well. It was this proven method that Chadda has coached nationally and internationally ranked players.

After rapid success at as Director of Tennis Operationsat Renaissance Family Fitness, Chadda recently accepted a new challenge - to oversee the complete fitness club operations and serve as RFF’s General Manager.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 15,000 members in 127 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
