Updates:

  • Directory – Elia stated it is going well, she is still getting online registrations. She also mentioned again that we will be putting the staff pictures in with their names. When it is ready she will begin proof reading and hopes to get it out as soon as possible.
  • Craft Fair – Sign-up link was sent out. Still in need of volunteers. We have 10 less crafter booths than last year. She reviewed the cost - $55 for a 6ft. space and $70 for an 8 ft. space. There will be a balloon twister and games for the kids as well.
  • Scholastic Book Fair - Una Belau is the coordinator. Fall book fair is scheduled for Oct 26-30. It will be held in the Library during the classes’ scheduled Library time, with family evening hours on Wed. Oct. 28th. Sign-ups will be going out through email. The coordinators will be going to classes the week prior to do “book talks” to classes during their library time. Online book shopping begins on Oct. 18.
  • Membership – as of this 10/13 we are equal to last year for memberships. We need more to get the award for increased membership this year.
  • Destination Imagination – Tara Myers and Heather Bovat have agreed to run it this year. There will be a parent information meeting on Nov. 4 from 7-8 pm to gauge interest. Group meeting will begin in November. DI is a project based competition with teams of 7all in the STEM curriculum. Meetings are 1 ½ hours every week and 2 hours on Sunday from November –March. There is a cap of 7 students per team, if more students are interested more parents can sign up as additional teams and an additional cost. The cost per team is $250.
  • United Streaming – Angela Greene provided a presentation of the Discovery Ed. Program she requested funding for last month. It is an online resource teachers and students can use. Students have individual login information. It replaced outdated textbooks and gives up to date information. It is used in grades K-5. Teachers are receiving training before students will be using it at home.

Fundraising

  • Squared One Art – The forms were shipped out on Saturday Oct. 11. Order forms should be in in approximately 2 weeks to order in time for Christmas delivery. Orders must be in by the due date.
  • Making Strides for Mayo 5K run/walk and kids 1K update. – We raised $4,379 which was down from last year. We were equal on t-shirt sponsors, and $800 less on sign sponsors. Ideas for next year:
  • T-shirts will be available to people who sign up early and for sponsors, they will not be for sale on the day of the race due to the fact we have 38 shirts left over to sell.
  • Looking at having a 5K website and consolidating forms for next year
  • A reminder will be sent out that this is the only fall fundraiser we are doing.
  • We will make sure that sign up emails get sent out to the staff as well as families
  • Possibly sending out sponsorship forms in the Spring
  • We will look into ways to curb traffic will possibly cones or more parent volunteers along the route.
  • Next year’s date is Oct. 2
  • Scrip gift cards – forms will be sent out next week. The online option seemed very complicated and not worth the hassle. Can only use checking account to purchase not CC. Tara made the order form with vendors. There are 2 order form deadlines: Nov. 2 for Thanksgiving delivery and Dec. 3 for Christmas delivery. Only one order form will go home with each child, additional forms will be available on the PTA website. Tentative pick up date will be Dec. 17 for Christmas delivery. (after the Holiday performances)

Upcoming events

  • Movie Night – Fri 10/16 – Hotel Transylvania. Doors will open at 6:00. Still in need of volunteers. Cost is $5 per family.
