-The group is working on getting the AS submitted
  1. Subclinical Anxiety AS proposal – Suzanne Danhauer
-The AS is moving along. Writing group committee is getting their feedback to us
3.RFA Proposal – Bev Snively
-We received a score of 34
-The percentiles weren’t given
- We had a lot of positive comments
-They did note we need to have additional data to be used in the analyses
- Looking at a Sept/Oct submission
4. Smoking Cessation – Hilary Tindle & Kate Weaver
-Submitted our AS and it was approved
-We have since submitted it to OSMB for approval
-It has been 3 weeks and haven’t heard anything
5. Women 80 and over –Steve Rapp
-The group had a call a couple weeks ago and we are moving forward
-We have set up regular calls to keep things moving forward
-Bev and Iris are heading up the bios piece
-Steve is writing the introduction
-We are setting up coeditor calls with Sally, Steve, Andrea, Teresa, Bev and iris
-We are planning to set up the subset calls soon / 4.Sally suggested Hilary contact Shari Ludlam and Nancy Morris for follow up on where it stands
SERC Research Summit / -We will hold the 2nd annual WHI SE-RC Research Summit September 27-28, 2012 in Winston-Salem
-Additional information will follow
Late Life Study – Sally Shumaker / -Recruitment will go lower in age in order to get 8,000 participants
Question Insert to form 33 – Sally Shumaker / -Steering Committee agreed for a subgroup to allow an insert of questions to form 33
-This will come out soon for folks to compete for their questions to be added
-Would be a subset of questions that would enhance resources in WHI
-This will be very competitive / More info will follow
Paper Proposals / Elena Salmoirago-Blotcher has a preliminary idea for a possible K award or paper proposal : “Association of depression/personality characteristics (hostility, optimism) and silent ischemia episodes in the Myocardial Ischemia & Migraine Study (MIMS) substudy of the WHI”
Sally Shumaker added an idea for a paper proposal on Meditation and Cognition. This would possibly look at an intervention study.
Suzanne Danhauer noted that she, Gretchen Brenes and Laura Young from UNC are working on a proposal with differences in women with diabetes and with and without arthritis. They are also working on a proposal with health behavior in women with diabetes. They plan to have a call next week to discuss further / Anyone interested besides; Suzanne Danhauer, Hilary Tindle, Elena Salmoirago-Blotcher, Bob Brzyski, Leslie Vaughan and Dorothy Lane’s coworkerIris Granek are all interested in this subgroup. Please let Sonya know if anyone else is interested.
