Princess & Queen Contestant Rules

The pageant is on Friday night before the Rodeo at Cattleman’s Park in Troy, Ala.Final check-in is 5:00-5:30 PM. Riding pattern will begin immediately!Winners will be announced after the Grand Entry on rodeo day.

Rules for ALL AGES(rules on registration form override this page if need be.)

  • Registration fee* is $30 for each contestant regardless of category or rodeo events entered.
  • The pageant will be on Friday the night before the rodeo at Crawford Arena.
  • Final check in will be 5:00-5:30 PM.
  • RIDING PATTERN FOR GIRLS 13-16 WILL BEGIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER CHECK-IN!
  • All contestants must be registered and compete in minimum of 4 rodeo events.
  • A parent/guardian must be on the premises at all times supervising their child(ren).
  • No parent/guardian, relative or friend will be allowed in the judging areas ( i.e., arena and interview areas)
  • No negative discussion of any contestant will be tolerated. The Little Boots Rodeo reserves the right to excuse persons for conduct that distracts from the enjoyment by others in attendance. If a parent must discipline their child, do it privately!
  • Contestants should be dressed appropriately according to their age.See Dress Code at right.... BE REASONABLE! This is just for fun.
  • The same outfit worn for the Friday night pageant must be worn on Saturday for the grand entry until after crowning. No changing of clothes until after the new queen and princesses are crowned and pictures taken.
  • Girls who have won a title in a particular age group in the last three years may not compete in that same age category again.
  • Winners will be announced after the Grand Entry on rodeo day.
  • Contestants 13-16 will be required to ride the grand entry.
  • Contestants 4-12 will be escorted into the arena by the announcer's stand.

DRESS CODE: (Dress Code is in place to provide equal opportunities for all contestants.)

Anyone not complying with the dress code will result in receiving a zero for your score on appearance!
Contestants must wear a long sleeve western shirt (buttons or snaps / any color), jeans (any color), boots (any color) and a western hat (any color)with hair pulled back intoa low ponytail.

Not Permitted: Chaps • Vest • Scarves • Slinkies • No shiny, glittery,sequins, fringe, fur or leather on any clothing • No trophy belt buckles (belts with bling AREpermissible) • No skirts, gaucho or splitskirts

Rules for ages 13-16 (Queen Contest)

  • Girls who have previously won the QUeen Contest may not compete again.
  • There is not a speech required.
  • Contestants in age group 13-16 will be judged on interview, personality, appearance and horsemanship/riding pattern.
  • Horsemanship/riding Pattern WILL be required for 13-16 age group.
  • The new queen must remain for the entire rodeo! No exceptions or the winner will be disqualified.
  • Contestants ages 13-16 will be required to ride in the grand entry.

Rules for ages 4-9 and 10-12

  • Princess winners of the previous age categories may not compete again in the same age category.
  • Contestants 4-12 will be escorted into the arena by the announcer's stand for the grand entry.
  • Judging will be on personality, outfit, and a brief interview.
