Many thanks to the staff of the Rockpool Cafe, Cullen, for making both the inaugural November event and the follow up December meeting of the Lunch Group such huge successes. Both lunches were delightful with plenty of choices. The excellent food was beautifully presented and served. With gourmet food and good company what could be a better way to enjoy lunch?

Many thanks to Hazel Taylor who graciously entertained the Lunch Group at her home in Buckie. The food provided, the company and the venue were all excellent.

Thursday 7th February 2013
Meeting at the Quaich, Fochabers High Street,at 12.30. We would like to thank Ian Duncan and his staff for the delicious food that was served to us all. We all had a most enjoyable lunch with excellent food and good company. Meeting at THE GORDON ARMS, Fochabers High Street, at 12.30.
We had an excellent meal at the Gordon Arms, Fochabers. Thanks to Lynne and her staff for making it such a pleasant experience. Delicious food was served in a friendly and efficient manner. To quote Roddy we were "fair stappit fu'!" Lively conversation accompanied the meal on wide ranging topics.

For this meeting we visited Forsyth's Deli at 2 Seafield Road,Cullen, AB56 4AF.
The food was interesting and enjoyable and the company was excellent, as always. Many thanks to Elaine and her efficient staff.

For this meeting we will returned to theRockpool CafeinCullen. Once again the meal and the company were excellent.

The lunch group did not meet during the summer months of June, July and August.

Thursday 5th September 2013
After some confusion with our booking we had to make some last minute arrangements. TheCullen Bay Golf Clubsaved the day by providing a really great meal at very short notice. The dining room provided excellent views over CullenBay to complement the excellent food. Thanks to all at the staff at theCullen Bay Golf Clubwho produced the meal and served it so cheerfully.

Lunch was atThe Gordon Arms, Fochabersat the usual time of 12.30 p.m.
Once again the Gordon Arms provided us with an excellent lunch,with generous portions, served by friendly and helpful staff. We were privileged in having the hotel dining room all to ourselves. The lunch was made even more enjoyable by the scintillating conversation of those present.

Lunch was enjoyed atBijouby the sea. Ten of us enjoyed a really great lunch in welcoming surroundings. Our February meeting was atThe Quaich, Fochaberswhich is under new ownership. We had a really innovative menu with the usual choice of three starters, three mains and three desserts. The slow roasted pork belly stuffed with black pudding served with clapshot and a Madeira jus was a big hit with some of the men. The vegetarian lasagne looked and smelled appetising enough to satisfy even the most dyed in the wool carnivore. The garlic bread was effective in deterring vampires!

Back toThe Cullen Bay Golf Clubfor an excellent meal with generous portions served at a table with excellent sea views. We also enjoyed the excellent conversation.

Back to theRockpool Cafe, Cullen. Another great meal, well presented and with great service. It's no wonder this establishment is so popular.

Thursday 4th September
Back to theRockpool Cafe, Cullenyet again. This time there were only six of us so we just ordered what we wanted of the normal menu and paid the standard price. As expected our food was just excellent and it was great to catch up with U3A friends after the summer break. TheRockpoolis now so popular that it is essential to book a table at almost all times.

This meeting was atThe Quaich, Fochabers. Once again we had a delicious meal with two courses for £10.00 chosen from three starters, three mains and three deserts. As usual portions were generous and service was excellent. Although numbers were limited to only six at this meeting, the conversation, as always, flowed throughout the meal.

Another visit toBijou by the Sea, Portessie, Buckie.
The Salmon Risotto and Chicken and Leek Pie were both excellent, as was the company.

Thursday January 1st 2015
As the first Thursday in the month was New Year's Day it was decided that there would be no meeting of the Lunch Group in January. Most of the group were still bloated after the festive season!

Thursday 5th February 2015
February's meeting was at a new venue for us, the Fife Lodge Hotel, Banff. Rob used his business skills to negotiate a good deal and we all enjoyed a really delicious lunch. We will definitely be going to the Fife Lodge Hotel again. We might also consider inviting members of the newly formed Turiff area branch of the U3A.

Thursday 5th March 2015
The March meeting was at theBeechtree Restaurant, MorayCollege, on Thursday 5th March at 12.30pm. There was no advance menu, we simply selected our choices from the menu. Eight members turned out for a really excellent meal in an excellent restaurant. The service from the students was excellent.

Thursday 2nd April 2015
Our April Lunch was at a new venue for us; theMustard SeedinInverness. Again there was no advance menu but an excellent choice. As many of us had travelled into Inverness by bus it was possible to have a glass of wine with our lunch and fit in some retail therapy before returning home. Excellent food!

Thursday 7th May
The final lunch of the U3A season is booked for the 7th May at theFife Lodge Hotel, Banff, where we had such an excellent lunch in February.
As usual you may select two courses for £10.00. If any member of the lunch group wishes a third course then the charge is as per hotel menu.
