Land Consultant-Property Managment

Department Overview

PG&E’s Natural Resource Management (NRM) Unit is comprised of three lines of business:

Timber and Timberland Management, Vegetation Management Services, and Transmission Line Access Road Maintenance.

-Timber and Timberland Management: Involves the management of approximately 52,000 acres of PG&E owned timberland. Registered Professional Foresters, Certified Arborists, and Pest Control Advisors are dedicated to maintaining forest resources on PG&E's watershed lands as well as enhancing environmental quality.

-Vegetation Management Services provide comprehensive vegetation management assistance to internal clients on PG&E owned land, facilities, and right of ways including canals, gas lines, telecommunication sites and substations. Services provided include weed and brush control, brush removal, tree removal, pesticide applications and vegetation management plans.

-Access Road Maintenance involves the annual maintenance and repair of all roads used to access PG&E's transmission lines.

Position Summary

The Land Management Consultant will be responsible for oversight of theNorthern region of the Transmission Line Access Road Program. This includes routine maintenance of existing access roads, road work associated with construction and reconstruction projects, and repair of road failures.

This position will require approximately 50-75% travel time throughout PG&E’s Northern Service Territory. This includes the workcenters of Table, Eureka, Sacramento and Lakeville. This includes Counties: Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mendocino, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Shasta, Solano, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Yolo and Yuba.

Responsibilities

-Safety: Absolute commitment to safety. Lead effort to obtain zero incidents. Complete all required training in a timely manner; promote safety awareness within and outside PG&E. Maintain a superior safety ethic for self and others, and conduct all work in accordance with all safety procedures.

-Compliance: maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Work with regulatory and governmental agencies, communities and other groups to communicate proposed actions and resolve issues before they escalate.

-Project planning and Workload Management: Ensure that project work scope, schedule and cost are accurately analyzed prior to commencement. Actively plan, estimate and manage all project work.

-Leadership: Provide leadership and foster an environment that encourages teamwork and innovative problem solving. Identify, communicate and implement strategic initiatives to improve processes to benefit operations.

-Client satisfaction: Perform all duties and respond to all client requests in a manner that the client is completely satisfied with the work product, including communication of timeline, budget, and issues.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

-BS/BA college degree in natural resource management, project management, or related field

required.

-4 years experience in managing construction/repair projects.

-4 years experience in project management and contract administration

-Possess a valid California Class C Drivers License

Desired:

-Advanced degree (MA, MS, or PhD) in applicable field; or successful completion of a minimum of

30 units/credits of coursework in a relevant field such as Land Use and Environmental Planning or

Project Management; or lead author of published articles in peer review journals; or leadership role

in one or more professional organizations related to area of expertise required.

-California Registered Professional Forester License

-ISA Certified Arborist

-Civil Engineer

-Degree/Certificate or completed courses in Road Engineering and/or Road Drainage/Sediment

Control.

-Experience as lead on large-scale and complex Company projects or special assignments.--

-Experience in managing budgets.

-Experience in vegetation management projects

-Strong technical writing skills, effective presentation skills, and an ability to interact and

communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Independent judgment and excellent

problem solving abilities.

-Ability to achieve consensus through dialog regarding project objectives and commitments.

-Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and demonstrated good judgment in arriving at

decisions and recommendations.

-Must be familiar with environmental regulations, county regulations, and internal standard

practices related to vegetation management.

-Ability to work with governmental agencies and landowners.

-Must be able to set schedules, provide cost estimates, and deliver completed projects on time.

-Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products

-Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written

-Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and achieve team goals

-Demonstrated ability in budget forecasting, planning and management

-Demonstrated experience in governmental agency and NGO interaction

-Strong organizational skills and a high degree of self motivation

-Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines

-Working knowledge of rare and endangered species issues

-Working knowledge of federal and state environmental/biological permit requirements
