Multilingual Library Books - Polish/Italian - ready to be sent to Australia Global Languages - 1st 2 Japanese process as per schedule - first order supplier LOTE - Sinhalese - not yet - Mahrahite ?

New Business

1/ MirsiaBunjaku from the Australian Migrant Resource Centre (AMRC) presented to the group on the work of the AMRC. To be read in conjunction with the powerpoint presentation.

- Not For Profit organisation - settlement life – 1979. Aim to provide equal access and equal participation for South Australians. Offices: Salisbury, Mt Gambier, Bordertown, Renmark and Naracoorte.

- New Groups: Congolese, Liberia, Eritrea and Bhutanese and Burma All new arrivals are encouraged to register at their local public library and health services.

AMRC partners with Anglicare SA - for accommodation -and as groups move further out from Adelaide. Try to put same ethnicity backgrounds together. Look for volunteers who can relate to each other.

- 1352 - new arrivals. Main ethnicities Syrian, Afghani, Bhutanese, Iraqi, Burmese, African countries (Congo, Rwanda, Ethiopia. Liberia etc.) Two settlement areas; Mt Gambier - direct settlement - Congolese - Burmese (specific ethnicities). Main settlement by AMRC to the north – Salisbury,Playford, Marion, Glenelg and Sturt. Once settled for a number of years new migrants start to move around.

- Asylum seekers - Afganis - Tamil - Syrian – Persians. Latest cohort - Syrian (small group of Armenian Syrians). Traditional society with strong family links. Went through the Community - Development Complex case support - five bodies do this in SA - referred from government Youth Empowerment - link/partnership for over 40 organisation AMRC are a registered training org. Employment pathways AMRC Arts program.

- Updating website and Facebook for flyers. Please send through library programs to AMRC so they can advertise to their users.

2/ Global Group editor - discussion from Marion and how to do this.

3/ Stirling library items not being picked up on One Trade and loathe to debit - What to do with this stock across the state if not wanted – need direction from PLS.

4/ Age of stock - usage of stock - should be the criteria - Content is an issue - most of customers using local purchase stock - feedback to PLS

5/ Marion looking for Japanesenewspapers. Kathy Hajdju, Salisbury, to send information on free site for on line newspapers - text based over 100 languages

6/10 March 2017 meet for % decision for meeting in April - to go to steering group meeting - allocation total. This has been booked and Chris Holles will do some analysis prior to the meeting. NB. Meeting was cancelled.

7/ Allocation instructions to the suppliers.

8/ Local area coordination - committee meet monthly
