SaturdaySchool #2
Our next session will be on Saturday, March 19 from 7:00 to 11:00. This is for students only (no parent meeting) and invitations will come home for everyone on Monday, March 14. Please sign the form regardless of whether or not you plan for your child to attend. Students should be dropped off and picked up at the lower pod.

Registration for 7th Grade Classes

Guidance came to our classrooms on Tuesday to discuss options for 7th grade. Your child’s placement for 7th grade is determined by their 5th grade EOG scores. Remember that this is what we are required to do and parents have the right to discuss this placement with the guidance department. Please return these cards signed as quickly as possible!

Math
Graded Papers: Week #21 Quiz on simple equation (division, fractional coefficients, and 2 step).
Math 1 has their 3rd equation quiz (distributive property, simplifying expressions, and inequalities)tomorrow. Students and parents should use the graphic organizer to prepare for this quiz.

Current and upcoming topics:Theoretical probability, experimental probability, listing outcomes, sample space, counting principle, and tree diagrams.
Science 4
Students will spend the next few weeks working with a hands-on SEPUP unit on rocks. Our goal is to complete 1 ½ labs each day. Students will take a simple quiz after lab #16 and lab #22. These quizzes are looking for basic information which students should understand if they completed their labs.

Social Studies

We will be workingwith the new Social Studies textbook which can be found online. Students have been instructed on how to access this. Please be sure that your child has been reviewing their study guide on key terms for our Social Studies benchmark test every night. We will review all week in class as well. Our team's test day is March 16, 2011.

Language Arts
We will continue to work with our novels in class this week. Literary terms are to be reviewed every night and we arealso working on these in class. Setting and sequencing are the main EOQ focus this week. Writing prompt #2 was assigned today (3/9) and every student has a writing folder. Please look through yourchild's for all the information. It is alsoon my website under“classroom documents”.

  • GWAG # 22 - Friday
  • 2nd period's book report is due Friday, March 11
  • 1st period has another book report due on Thursday March 24, 2011.

Please be sure your child is reading 30 minutes a night and you are signing their reading logs.These are due on Mondays.
