Chapter 14 Summary
No toys in the fish tank.
Monday morning Kristi calls Catherine to hang out. Catherine offers to take Kristi to the pond to go swimming. Catherine chooses between three different bathing suits before she puts on some makeup and is ready to go. Mom is busy teaching David to call Catherine by her name instead of Frog when Kristi comes into the house while Catherine gets her a beach towel. Kristi notices that there is a rubber duck in the fish tank.

Kristi tells Catherine that she has never gone swimming in a pond, and she doesn’t seem to sure about going swimming. Kristi slows down to look towards Ryan’s house as they pass.

When Kristi and Catherine arrive at the pond, Kristi explains to Catherine how difficult it is living between two houses since her mom and dad are separated. Kristi starts to talk about Ryan but Catherine avoids the conversation by talking about the pond. While Kristi and Catherine are sunbathing on a pier out in the pond, Ryan waves to them. While they are talking, Kristi asks Catherine if she would go to the dance and take Jason as her date. Catherine says, “Hmm. I’ll think about it.”
