P6Hx23-4.11PROCEDURE: GENERAL ADMISSION TO BACCALAUREATE PROGRAMS

  1. For requirements for admission to Bachelor’s degree in Education Programs at St. Petersburg College, see College Procedure P6Hx23-4.72.
  1. In addition to general St. Petersburg College admissions rules, students will be eligible for admission to the Baccalaureate Programs as follows:
  1. Completion of a minimum of 60 credits from regionally accredited postsecondary institutions.
  1. Completion of college level writing and mathematics with a grade of “C” or higher from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  1. A cumulative grade point average of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale in all postsecondary coursework is required in all programs except for the B.A.S. in Orthotics and Prosthetics, which requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  1. Completion of a minimum of 15 semester hours of transferable general education coursework.
  1. Completion of an application to the appropriate baccalaureate program.

All health related admissions programs require prospective students, who are not initially accepted, to resubmit their application for subsequent enrollment periods.

  1. Completion of all state mandated or SPC specific prerequisites with a grade of “C” or better are required for admission to all degree programs. See the individual program requirements at spcollege.edu/bachelordegrees.edu or FloridaShines.org for specific information. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Dean for some programs.
  1. Students wishing to pursue an additional bachelor’s degree at SPC must meet the following admissions criteria:
  1. Meet the stated admissions requirements for the second degree;
  1. Be enrolled in one baccalaureate program at a time;
  1. Develop an individualized academic plan (IAP) for completion of the second degree. This must be approved by the program’s dean after program admission.
  1. Additional admissions rules for specific programs are as follows:
  1. Upper division certificate seeking students must meet all program admissions criteria.
  1. Upper division certificates require proof of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  1. The College of Nursing requires:
  1. An A.S. degree in a related area from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
  1. The College of Nursing may also accept diplomas in nursing from programs accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
  1. Completion of all AA degree General Education Requirements.
  1. Completion of a minimum of two consecutive years of a foreign language in high school or two semesters of a foreign language at the college level.
  1. The presentation of a valid unrestricted, unencumbered RN license from the state where applicant is practicing, to be kept current throughout the duration of the required course of study.
  1. The B.A.S. in Dental Hygiene Program requires:
  1. An A.S. degree in a related area from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
  1. The presentation of a valid and current Dental Hygiene license from the state where applicant is practicing.
