PROJECT DESCRIPTION / LIMITS

The purpose of this project is to upgrade the existing I-85 and SR 74 / Senoia Road interchange. A partial cloverleaf option has been developed.

The partial cloverleafoption would add a two lane loop ramp in the south west quadrant and a one-lane ramp in the north east quadrant of the interchange. This option would eliminate the traffic signal for the heavy southbound to eastbound movement from I-85 to SR 74.

The SR 74 bridge over I-85would be replaced with a new bridge that wouldinclude 4 lanes eastbound and 2 lanes southbound. East of the interchange, SR 74would be widenedto four lanes in each direction to Meadow Glen Parkway. East of Meadow Glen Parkway, SR 74 would be widened to 3 lanes in each direction to Milam Road.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

The Efficiency Motel, located along SR 74 northwest of the interchange is a potential Environmental Justice issue. However, that facility is located outside of the proposed project limits, so it probably will not be an issue. The only other known environmental issue at this time is the presence of underground storage tanks (UST’s) at the commercial properties proposed to be acquired, which are both gas stations.
