Day 1
October 11
Wednesday / USA-Ireland. Depart USA for overnight flight to Ireland. Dinner and in-flight entertainment is served shortly after take-off.
Day 2
October 12
Thursday / Dublin-Galway. Morning arrival at Dublin Airport where after clearing customs you are met by your Professional Irish Driver/Guides. We continue to Athlone in the center of Ireland. In 1120 the Connaught king built the first of six successive wicker or wooden bridges and in 1129 a castle to defend it. Bridge and castle were destroyed on behalf of the Meath kingdom and rebuilt by the Connaught kings' successively over the next forty years. In 1168 the Annals of the Four Masters record a residence in Athlone for the King of Connaught. The Cluniac priory was founded on the west bank in 1150 Check into our hotel. The rest of the day you are free to enjoy Galway. After dinner why not enjoy a pint at the pub “AuPouchan” a short walk from Eyre Square with great Irish Music. Overnight Imperial Hotel.

Friday / Galway- Cliffs of Moher-Galway. After a full Irish Breakfast we depart Galway. We continue into the rugged Burren Ireland’s stony place (Bhoireann) the Burren, is home to rare alpine plants, delicate wonders that grow in the thin soil and crevices - gentians, orchids and maidenhair ferns amongst others. The survival of both alpine and Mediterranean plants in this unusual habitat continues to arouse and to delight its visitors. The Burren contains dozens of megalithic tombs, Celtic crosses and a ruined Cistercian Abbey dating from the 12th century, Corcomroe. You can find villages abandoned since famine times and green roads on which you can walk for miles without ever seeing a car. We stop at the Cliffs of Moher (included). We continue through Ireland’s rugged Burren Landscape to youthful bustling Galway City. In the 1400’s, there began in Galway the rule of the 'Tribes', as the leading fourteen families were called. Their names wereAthy, Blake, Bodkin, Browne, Darcy, Deane, Font, French, Joyce, Kirwan, Lynch, Martin, Morris, and Skerritt. Time today to browse “Shop Street” as well as the lively pubs that dot the city. Overnight Imperial Hotel Galway.
Day 4

Saturday / Galway. Free day in Galway or you may want to take an optional trip to the Aran Islands. This day-trip takes the whole day, so do not go for it unless you are up to it. On the Island, the way of life is as it would have been in days gone by, except for the mini-vans that take tourists on sightseeing trip, it has remained as it was in the 19th century. The most impressive of all the ancient fortresses in Ireland, is here, Dun Aengus Fortress. Built to maximize defense, it is surrounded by high walls on three sides, the other is a sheer drop of 500 feet to the ocean. Overnight Galway at the Imperial Hotel.

Sunday / Galway-Bunratty-Kinsale. Today after breakfast we depart Galway and continue south. We continue to Bunratty with its 600-year-old castle and adjacent folk park. Time for photos and optional visit. Be sure to pop in 300-year-old “Durty Nellie’s Pub” for a wee pint. We travel through Killarney and over the Kerry and Cork Mountains into Kinsale. Kinsale in County Cork is one of the most picturesque, popular and fashionable resorts of the south-west coast of Ireland. Famous for its beautiful yachting, sea angling, gourmet restaurants and golf. Charles Fort, a popular attraction was constructed in the late 17th century on the site of an earlier coastal fortification. Charles Fort is a classic example of a star-shaped fort and has five bastions. The two seaward bastions, the Devil's and the Charles' were for defending the harbor and both are casemated - that is, they have gun embrasures inside as well as on top of the walls. Desmond Castle, (French Prison) Cork Street, Kinsale, built as a custom house by the Earl of Desmond c. AD 1500. Desmond Castle has had a colorful history, ranging from Spanish occupation in 1601 to use as a prison for captured American sailors during the American War of Independence. Known locally as 'The French Prison' after a tragic fire in which 54 prisoners, mainly French seamen, died in 1747. The castle was also used as a borough jail from 1791 to the onset of the Great Famine when it was used as an auxiliary workhouse tending to the starving populace. Time to explore this area. Monday / Kinsale- Cork- Kinsale. Cork City is the second largest city in Ireland and takes its name from the Irish word Corcaigh meaning “marshy place”. The ancestral home of America’s automobile pioneer, Henry Ford is located here. We will visit The English Market, located at the top of Patrick Street, the city’s principal shopping street. Inside the covered market is a wide variety of stalls selling meat; fresh and smoked fish; bacon, black and white puddings; tripe and drisheen. There are a couple of wonderful stalls stocking Irish soda and brown bread, as well as the best cheese in Ireland. These sit comfortably alongside sophisticated displays of olive oils, adjacent to the fresh vegetables and of course the pride of Irish cooking, the potato. We will also learn about Cork’s several river channels that once divided a series of islands. Today, many of these former channels are now prominent streets – including St Patrick’s Street, the Grand Parade and the South Mall. The tour goes on to explore the bridges spanning the river Lee, each of which has its own story to tell. All of this connects back to the important role that trade played in the development of Cork and its culture. We make our way back to Kinsale. Overnight Trident Hotel Kinsale.
Day 7
October 17
Tuesday / Kinsale-Blarney-Kinsale-Clonakilty-Skibbereen-Bantry-Kinsale. After breakfast we meet our driver guide in the lobby of the hotel. Our next stop, Blarney Castle, is home to the blarney stone (optional admission), which legend has it bequeaths the “gift of eloquence” to all who kisses it. Time to shop at the woolen mills or stop in Christy’s Pub for a Pint! We depart Kinsale and travel along the breathtaking coast of Ireland, some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. It is on through Clonakilty where castles dot the shores of the bay and The Catholic Church is a fine example of gothic architecture. Next stop is Skibbereen. Skibbereen is rightly known as the capital of West Cork. It is the "hub" from which the many "sparkling jewels" of the area can be reached. Bantry sits at the head of one of Ireland’s most beautiful bays with a harbor that reaches right into the town center. We then head to Glengarriff. Located in the sheltered harbor of Glengarriff in Bantry Bay, in Southwest Ireland, Garnish Island is a small island of 37 acres known to horticulturists and lovers of trees and shrubs all around the world as an island garden of great beauty. Its sheltered position nurtures luxuriant Mediterranean flowers such as fuchsia and arbutus. Return to Kinsale. Overnight Trident Hotel.

Wednesday / Kinsale- Kilkenny. Morning departure from Kinsale has us traveling north. We continue to Medieval Kilkenny. The Butler Family bought the Castle in 1391 and lived there until 1935. They were Earls, Marquesses and Dukes of Ormonde and lived in the castle for over five hundred years. They were a remarkable family, resilient, politically astute and faithful to the crown and to Ireland as dictated by the politics of the times. These loyalties determined their fortunes and career, and so too the fortunes of their seat some time to browse through Kilkenny. A must see is the Kilkenny Castle recently refurbished with original artifacts (optional admission). Overnight Kilkenny River Court

Thursday / Kilkenny. After breakfast we enjoy a “Medieval Kilkenny Walking Tour” From wealthy tradesmen to bishops and witches, Kilkenny has seen it all. A Witch who murdered her four husbands? A Mayor who fathered 25 children! A pass time involving Kilkenny Cats! A Spinning Cage outside the Tholsel for troublemakers! A public burning of Petronella the maid in 1324! Afternoon on own. Friday / Kilkenny-Waterford-Kilkenny. We continue to Medieval Waterford. Waterford City was founded by Viking traders in 914 and it has an exciting medieval flavor and riverside bustle. The Waterford Museum of Treasures tells the 1000-year-story of Waterford from the treasures of Viking Waterford at Reginald's Tower, the oldest civic urban building in Ireland, to the story of Georgian Waterford at the Bishop's Palace from 1700 to 1970. Saturday / Kilkenny- Dublin. Morning departure from Kilkenny. We arrive Dublin with plenty of time for you to explore this 1000-year-old city. We enjoy a panoramic tour en route to the hotel Overnight Camden Court Hotel.

Sunday / Dublin-Dublin Airport-USA. After breakfast we are transferred to nearby Dublin Airport. In the off chance that you missed shopping opportunities, Dublin has a large Duty-Free Shop that you can visit once you are checked in for your flight. In the traditional Irish way, we wish you “Safe Home”.
