Supervision

Schedules for supervision will be set at on a monthly basis. All parents/skaters are responsible for shifts that they have been assigned, as well as being responsible for finding a replacement for shift(s) if they are unable to attend. At no point is it the responsibility of the Board of Directors to find a replacement for assigned shifts. All supervisors are required to sign the attendance sheet to verify their presence. Penalties for `No Show` or ‘Late arrival’ to positions will result in the immediate cashing of the supervision cheque. Further offences will result in loss of skating privileges at the discretion of the OSC Board. In the past we have been very lenient with these policies, however this year they will be strictly enforced.

Volunteer Assignment

Since our club is a non-profit organization, we need the help of all our families to keep the programs running. This season there will be a few opportunities to help out. We require a cheque for $250 that will be cashed at the end of the season for families who choose not to participate.

Casino:

This fall, we have been granted a Casino fundraiser on Dec 17, 18. All Test Level families are required to volunteer to 1 shift/skater at the casino. There will be a sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the Piper arena so that you can choose your preferred position/time. The monies raised with the casino will help offset increases in ice costs over this season, keeping increases in fees to a minimum for our families. Attached to this package, and also available on the website, there is a volunteer form that you must fill in and submit with your volunteer and supervisory cheques at your first session in September.

Additional fundraising duties may be required this season, and may include, but are not limited to, volunteering for the Gala Show on Dec. 13, or volunteering time for the AGM. Anyone failing to complete their fundraising duty will have their volunteer cheque cashed.

GALA Show:

On Dec 13, the Okotoks Skating Club is holding a Christmas Dreams Gala Show that will give everyone an opportunity to showcase their skating skills for the family and friends here in Okotoks! There will be more information on this event coming up in the fall. Skaters from all levels… Canskate and Test Level have the opportunity to participate in the production, and will be required to provide financial and practice commitment in order to be accepted into the show.

This will also be a fundraiser for our club with lots of chances to fulfill your volunteer commitments!
