A Word from Keith Haygood

A New Beginning

“Boy, you really messed up this time.”
“If only I hadn’t…”
“If I had it to do all over again…”

How often have we wished we could go back in time to re-live some of our experiences and correct some of our mistakes? For the woman at the well, she had brought her problems onto herself. The pattern of continued mistakes had taken her down a path that left her broken and empty. Despair will do that to you. For all of us, we can reach that point of despair at which we long for new beginnings. Little did this woman know that her trip to the well would be so significant that it would change her life.

Jesus said, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” - John 4:13-14 (NKJV)

Jesus always takes us right where we are, as we are. But He doesn't expect us to stay that way. The beauty of new beginnings is that we can come to Him in repentance and confession and allow His Holy Spirit to transform us. As you begin a new year, commit yourself to follow Him; to walk in love; to read and know His Word; to share His love with others. Then you can watch Him work and do things in your life that you never thought were possible!

Desiring God (Meditations of a Christian Hedonist)

By John Piper

Scripture reveals that the great business of life is to glorify God by enjoying him forever. In this paradigm-shattering work, John Piper reveals that the debate between duty and delight doesn’t truly exist: Delight is our duty. Join him as he stuns you again and again with life-impacting truths you saw in the Bible, but never dared to believe.
