Exposure time to local Congregation Kakaskasen at Tomohon, Manado, to meet groups of women who are active designing clover corsage / pin, producing natural-fragrant dried flower and their products are exported.

Within his preaching, sharing two mothering images, how children will lean on their mothers and adults still depend on their mothers, too. “Imaging God as the love of mothers” he urges all women by sharing loving care of mothers to create good relation among others.

Women Conference in Manado is a follow up WC in Taiwan 2003. Former theme was Challenges of Women in Globalization Era’ discuss issue of women and poverty , women against violence and migrant worker ministry . The theme ofthis conference is “Awareness, Connect and Help” toaware of the problems of women today, to have better connection withone another, and help one another

  1. Sharing from Women and Gender Desk of Mission 21

by Rev. Dr. Meehyun Chung

Meehyun Chung presented an organigram of new structure Mission 21. 3 Main tasks of Women and Gender Desk Mission 21 in Basel is to introduce Feminist Theology, to establish Networking among women inter continent and to deal with gender mainstreaming. She emphasied to overcome old ideology of Orientalism and Occidentalism and move to Post-colonialsm in order to develop Feminist Theology in Asian Perspective. She needs some support from Asia Fellowship Mission 21 Partners in order to carry out her tasks at gender and women desk.

The silent moment for remembering the leave of beloved sisters Rose Ampofo and Johanna Eggimann led by Madeleine. She stressed 3 main points, ‘encounter, connect and help’ to insist us to see something we could do together.

Indonesian migrant workers as domestic helpers in Hongkong are counted the second big numbers. In fact, most of them are underpaid, less educated and less skill and furthermore, they decide to be migrant workers because the situation in country of origin and of promising/fascinating wages.

  1. Women and men were created to be mutual and equal partners to care for creations. It is mean that interrelationship among human can not ignore the impact to interrelationship to all creation as stated in genesis 1:1-2 : 4a
  2. The stage of inter-relationship among all creation is very much based on the condition of human’s relationship
  3. Female Friendship : infuses sisterhood with a vibrant source and force of affection
  4. To build a stronger sisterhood, so that we Asian Sisters could share each other problem and burden, to have abetter partnership toward God’s Mission, Mission together

She is thanking for delegates’ trust to be a coordinator and hopefully we could work together to glorify Jesus’ Name through our ministry service.

  • Other deep expression comes from other participants, Madeleine and Meehyun Chung for the new women coordinator and former women coordinator Rev. Chua Yen Yen.

3. Proposing 3 – year programs period 2007 - 2009(Plan of

Rev. Chua Yen Yen’scomments:

  • considering some priorities for 3 – year programs
  • the new coordinator should discuss the proportion of budget lines for conducting certain programs among women and youth, with Mission 21

Madeleine Strub-Jaccoud

The new coordinator should discuss with Meehyun, the total amount from Mission 21 and Asia Fellowship, since some incomes from private donors and churches in Basel decreases.

Meehyun’s suggestion:

  • thinking about suitable programs which comes up from bottom / grass-root levels
  • providing ToT projects for on going programs and contacting Mission 21 program officers in charge Christian W. , Doris Grohs, Welman Boba and Robert Wirz.

4. Women & Children Department of CCI in Indonesia, programs 2004 – 2009

Led by Rev. Rosmalia Barus

CCI concerns on women and children by establishing and providing:

-Theological standpoints

-Women Theology

-Sunday School Curriculum

-Leadership programs

-Women’s role in structural level

CCI via Women Desk plans to launch some modules for handbook/guidelines and training reading texts.

The issues of HIV/AIDS, trafficking and violence over children will be forwarded for programs 2006. She imposes us to manifest our faith I our daily behavior. She congratulates the election of new Asia Women Coordinator.

Clove is a symbol of life, since more than 50% of inhabitants in North Sulawesi are clove farmers. She thanks for kindly participation of Rev. Kairupan Lengkong to coordinate some volunteers.

RECOMMENDATION OF ASIAN WOMEN CONFERENCE 2006

  1. All churches inAsia should havedeep concern on migrant workers.
  1. Prevention violenceis better than cure. It start from family by providing education and giving enough in formation about building a healthy Christian Family.
  1. Giving shelter for foreign brides. The churches should help the victimsof violence.
  1. Churches providecounseling andassistance forabuse persons.
  1. For those partners churches which do not treat equally to male and female ministers, should observe the equality ( leadership, salary ) among the ministers
