Workshop for children in conflict with law & their parents
As part of the project titled “Social Work Intervention to Promote Juvenile Justice (SWIJJ)”, aone-day Workshopon “Interventions in Juvenile Justice: Participation of Stakeholders”,was organized for the children in conflict with law and their parents on Friday the 26th March. The SWIJJProject is a collaborative effort of the Institute with the Crime Branch of the Nagpur Police and the Rotary Club of Nagpur. The Workshop aimed at providing support and guidance to children who have been involved in criminal offences and their parents, so as to smoothen the progress of their rehabilitation. Dr Kishore Mahabal and Ms Aruna Gajbhiye were the resource persons. The students of the Institute staged a street play depicting issues in the lives of children in conflict with law and the forces responsible for it. Marking the inauguration, the traditional lamp was lighted by Mr Pravin Dixit, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, Mr Pravez Akhtar, President, Rotary Club of Nagpur and Principal Dr John Menachery. Dr Prajakta Tanksale and Ms Anuradha Joshi conceptualized and directed the workshop.
Farewell
Ms Chitra Tare who was associated with the Library of the Institute well over a decade has left the Institute on 31st March. She has been striving hard to make the library a better place for students and faculty. We wish her well in her new assignment at the Priyadarshini College of Engineering, Nagpur.

Ms Rekha Dandekar, Ms Jyoti Motghare, and Ms Monica Taide attended a UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Learning Disability: Issues and Challenges” organized by the Hislop College, Nagpur, on 26-27 March 2010.
Dr Geetha Thachil and Ms Jyoti Niswade Functioned as external examiners at the School of Rural Development of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Tuljapur in March.
Ms Anuradha Joshi and Dr Prajakta Tanksale attended theState Level Conference on “Impact on Globalization on Indian Culture”, organized by the Annasaheb Gundewar College, Nagpur on 12th January.Ms Joshi and Dr Tanksale also attended a State Level Conference on “Women Empowerment in India” organized by Arts, Commerce & Science College, Koradi, on 5th March.
Dr Arun Kumar, Ms Anuradha Joshi and Dr Prajakta Tanksaleattended theNational Seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights” organized by R. S Mundle Dharampeth Arts & Commerce College, Nagpur on 27th March.
Dr Arun Kumar delivered lectures as a Guest Faculty at the Institute of Gandhian Studies, Wardha, on “Preparation of Project Proposals” and “Professional Social Work and Gandhi” on 26th January and 14th February respectively.
Dr Keshav Walkedelivered a lecture on “How to Write a Research Proposal” in a three-week refresher course for the “Teachers in Physical Education” on 26th February at the P.G. Dept. of Physical Education, RTM Nagpur University.Dr Walkealso functioned as a subject expert at Nagpur Doordarshan’s live Marathi talk show ‘Manthan’ based on “Citizens’ Rights and Their Duties” which was telecast on 9th March.
Dr John Menachery functioned as Guest Faculty at the Post Graduate Diploma in Child Rights course organized by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and conducted a module on “Situation Analysis of Children in the Indian Context” on 9-10 March.
