OBJECTIVES: The goal of this course is to work off of what you learned in The Art of Video 1 in a manner that expands your knowledge and experience making video productions. We will review what you should know and more consciously delve into the professional world of Video Production, image composition, experimentation, and editing. By looking at the classics of film making you will learn professional work habits and methods. In the end you will create several small productions as well as one large scale production that can be entered into contests and our own Video Festival.

SUPPLIES: All cameras, film, and studio equipment will be provided and used within the school’s TV studio. If you have your own video cameras and or editing programs you will be able to incorporate pieces of your outside of school recording into certain projects. The attached liability agreement must be signed by you and your parent/guardian in order to gain this privilege of using all of our equipment. If you are found being irresponsible with equipment your privileges will be terminated. With this you will have a very hard time passing the class.

RULES: HAND IN SCRIPTS and all homework ON TIME!!! Respect each other, myself, and the equipment. Misuse or misbehavior will be answered with negative effects on classroom participation grades and will result in the following process( if behavior improves the actualization of the list will not occur.)

  2. Written warning/ phone call to home
  3. after school detention
  4. suspension of darkroom/camera privelages.
  5. You will be handed over to the proper administrative VP

4 lates is a cut. One cut equals a zero for all work due or done on that day and you will be written up to your administrator for detention or worse.

REQUIREMENTS:

-Three ring binder/Journal for every class

-Pen/pencil

-Respect and care in use of all equipment

-All assignments must be completed by due date.

-Proper conduct in studio, control room, classroom, and general school property.

-Motivation to succeed in all aspects of the course

ASSIGNMENTS AND STRUCTURE

(This may change according to the class’s motivations and teacher prerogative. Specific assignments and due dates will be given per assignment in class throughout the semester)

1. Journal- Collect terms and ideas necessary for the class in a notebook. Include how to properly use equipment. Also include questions and ideas you have for scripts.

2. Still Frame Movie- based on La Jatee

3. Documentary story- develop a news program with all aspects included

4. Multimedia project – including some other form of art/music/writing

6. Create a short film style video in studio

7. Short film style video outside of school.

8. Several Scripts. One for each production

9. Mid Term project incorporating all previously learned knowledge

10. Final project – to be presented in an official Video showing for public viewing.

CLASS LIABILITY AGREEMENT FOR EQUIPMENT

All video students will be using school equipment during class after appropriate instructions have been given. Students are responsible for paying attention to these instructions and using care with this equipment at all times.

If any of the equipment is damaged or entirely broken by you, you and/or your parent(s) will pay the appropriate repair or replacing costs. Use of such equipment is required for this course, but you will not be able to use such until this form is signed.
