AZNIGP PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
The month of July has arrived! Family vacations, backyard BBQs, pool parties, and of course, the heat! It was inevitable that the temperatures would start rising and this is just the beginning. So try and stay cool and enjoy your summer!
This month we are offering the professional development seminar, “World Class Procurement” being held on Friday, July 17th at the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, 4041 N. Central Avenue, #1400. There is still time to register if you are interested. The cost is $160 for National members and you will receive 1 certification point. Registration information can be found on the website. Free parking is available or you can relax and ride the light rail!
We are also hosting a LunchBox U on Tuesday, July 28th. It will also be held at the Maricopa County Department of Public Health at 4041 N. Central Avenue, #1400. The topic will be “Disaster Preparedness” and it will be a panel discussion from representatives from several entities. This event is free and all are encouraged to bring their lunch and attend.
For those of you who plan on taking your CPPB/CPPO exams in October, the chapter is hosting a combined Study Session every Thursday beginning July 30th from 2:30-4:00 at the Arizona State Procurement Office, 100 N. 15th Avenue, Conference Room 104B. They will run each Thursday through October 15, 2009. The sessions are free and everyone is invited to attend. Our next Career Seminar will be Tuesday, August 11th and details are still being worked out. Mark your calendars and plan on joining us for a half-day filled with lots of learning and networking with your peers! Watch the website for more information as it becomes available.

If you have ever thought about taking a more active role in the Chapter, here is your opportunity! Nominations are currently being accepted to fill the Board Positions of Vice-President and Secretary. Now is the time to nominate yourself or someone you know. Nominations will be accepted through September 15th. Additional information is available on the website.
The Regional Conference Committee has been hard at work planning for this year’s conference. It will be held on Thursday, October 15th. We are also planning a Product Expo in conjunction with the Regional Conference this year and are looking for potential vendors. Our next monthly Board Meeting will be on Thursday, July 9th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. They are held in the Cholla Conference Room at the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, 4041 N. Central Avenue, #1400. Everyone is welcome and members may call in to the conference line (602 506-0090) if they cannot attend in person.
