Centre Development Manager

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual who is aligned to the values of our charity.

We are small but thriving charity that is the heart of the community of Newton le Willows. You will enhance and develop this well established organisation and drive forward new initiatives to ensure we are supporting all areas of our community.

You will be responsible for the day to day management of the community centre in particular; you will be responsible for managing a small team of paid staff and our volunteers. Your role will be responsible for implementing our 3 year Big Lottery Newton Community Hub project as well as other associated projects.

We are a centre run for the community by the community so we are looking for an individual who can rise to the challenge. Fundraising, financial and general administration will also feature in your role.

With a flexible approach, you will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, experience of managing staff and a significant range and depth of Community Development experience.

Job Description

Centre Development Manager

Responsible to:Board of Directors

Managed By:Chair of theBoard of Directors

Responsible for:Day to day Operation of the Community Centre including all staff management, project and financial management

Hours:Full time, 35 hours per week. Flexibility required regarding hours of work, occasional need to work weekends and evenings.

Salary:£25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience

Job purpose:

The Centre Development Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Community Centre and associated projects and will liaise with the tenants and users of the Centre as well as maintain and establish networks within our Community.The post holder will be charged with the following areas of responsibility:

  • Staff Management
  • Project Management of Big Lottery Newton Community Hub project and associated projects
  • Accommodation Management
  • Financial Administration
  • General Administration / Staff and Volunteer supervision
  • Health & Safety
  • Fundraising
  • Compliance with Charity Commission guidelines
  • Other responsibilities commensurate with the post

DUTIES:

General Administration / Staff Management

  1. Day to day line management of all staff employed at the Community Centre. Including Performance & Development Reviews.
  2. To assist the Centre Development Officer in the management and development of volunteers in keeping with policies and procedures.
  3. To act as Fund Raiser on behalf of the Centre including applying for grants.
  4. To prepare written reports on a regular basis and present information to inform and report to the Board of Directors on the operation and use of the Centre.
  5. To act as the first point of contact for Community Centre users and visitors.
  6. Handling enquiries pertaining to the operation of the Community Centre.
  7. Establish and maintain up to date records, files of correspondence and databases.
  8. To maintain an inventory of office / audio - visual equipment and equipment use.

Project Management

  1. Management of the Big Lottery Newton Community Hub project. Ensuring standards are met, records and reporting is undertaken in an appropriate and timely manner.
  2. Management of other funds secured by the Community Centre and ensuring appropriate management and reporting is undertaken.

Accommodation Management

  1. Maintain an efficient and effective, quality reception service for our Centre users.
  2. Maintain an efficient and effective scheduling system for letting and booking of office space, meeting rooms, conference, training and exhibition space.
  3. To ensure that all meeting rooms are arranged, equipped and serviced for booked meetings and that they are cleared and tidied after use.
  4. Maintain an efficient and effective scheduling system for letting and booking of the leisure facilities and community activities spaces.
  5. In conjunction with Board Directors ensure that all health and safety and security policies are maintained and fulfilled.

Financial Administration

  1. Working with the Finance Officer and Treasurer, ensure that all financial transitions are undertaken in accordance with financial policies.
  2. Produce monthly financial monitoring reports.
  3. Supervision of the Finance Officer in preparationof all invoices and administer financial management systems for tracking expenditure.
  4. Ensure that day-to-day income and expenditure is recorded and reconciled against agreed budgets.
  5. Management of income collection and recording from activities and vending.
  6. Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with the financial and legal regulations.

Publicity/Networking

  1. To assist in the promotion of the Community Centre, co-ordinate publicity and marketing of the Centre, and arrange events and promotions to raise the profile of the Centre including use of social media and the website
  2. To liaise with a range of existing services statutory,private sectors and other voluntary organisations in order to develop new initiatives which will benefit the Centre.
  3. To attend meetings/forums with outside agencies that will benefit the Centre.
  4. To liaise with the groups, and individuals using the Centre and to be responsible for the co-ordination of Centre activities.
  5. To provide advice and support to identified Community Association affiliated groups and to take direct participation in running Community Association groups as required.
  6. To provide advice and support to independent user groups.

Events Management

  1. Working with the Centre Development Officer, organise special events in consultation with the Management Committee to fundraise and raise the profile of our organisation.

Health & Safety

  1. Responsibility for assisting the implementation of Health and Safety requirements and reporting including Health and Safety Risk Assessment.

Other Responsibilities

  1. To carry out any other responsibilities commensurate with the post of Centre Manager.
