1ABOUT THIS appendix

(a)This appendix sets out the new charges for BNS International, Inmarsat and other calls.

(b)International call rates are subject to variation. To determine the call charges applicable to any international call you make using the service you must refer to the version of this appendix in effect at the time of your call. You may contact us to confirm past and current international rates.

(c)The meaning of the words printed like this is set out at the end of the service description for the relevant service or in the consumer terms or SME terms(as applicable to you).

(d)This Appendix O applies to you if the standard pricing table for your service tells you that we will charge you for BNS International, Inmarsat and other callsin accordance with this Appendix O.

(e)You should look at the terms of the agreementto clarify whether this Appendix applies and how it applies to you, or you may contact us to confirm if this Appendix applies to you.

2CALL CHARGES

1.2International Calls

(a)All international calls[1] incur a flagfall (as specified in the relevant Standard Agreement) and additional charges based on the time and day of call origination (see Charging Periods below), the destination and the duration of the call (see Table 1).

(b)When an Optus customer calls a number that is connected to an international network, you may be charged if that international network sends an answer signal indicating that the call has been delivered.

(c)The call charge rates depend on the time at which the call is placed. Unless otherwise stated in the relevant Standard Agreement the Weekday and Weekend tariff periods as follows:

(d)For the purpose of determining the time at which a call is placed, the time used is the local time in the state to which the local exchange’s Charging Zone has been allocated. This will not necessarily be the local time at the place at which the calling party is located.

(e)The total call is charged in the time category current when the call is established. Charging commences at the time a connection is established and stops when a call is terminated. Calls are charged per second. Each call includes the flagfall plus the charge per second multiplied by the duration of the call and rounded up to the nearest second and cent. Calls to international mobile phone services incur an additional per minute surcharge, except where otherwise indicated (see Table 1).

1.3Inmarsat Call Charges

(a)Automatically connected calls are available to Inmarsat-A, Inmarsat-B, Inmarsat-M, Inmarsat Aero and Inmarsat Mini-M mobile satellite terminals located within the beam coverage of the Inmarsat Pacific Ocean Region (POR), Indian Ocean Region (IOR), Atlantic Ocean Region (AOR) and Atlantic Ocean - West (AOR-W) satellites. Calls incur a flagfall of $0.30 ($0.33) per call and the per second rate listed in Table 2.

(b)Charging commences at the time a connection is established and stops when a call is terminated. Calls are charged per second. Call Charges include the flagfall plus the charge per second multiplied by the duration of the call and rounded up to the nearest second and cent.

1.4Iridium Call Charges

(a)Automatically connected calls are available to Iridium satellite phones located within Australia and overseas. Calls incur a flagfall of $0.30 ($0.33) per call and the per second rate below.

(b)Charging commences at the time a connection is established and stops when a call is terminated. Calls are charged per second. Call Charges include the flagfall plus the charge per second multiplied by the duration of the call and rounded up to the nearest second and cent. The per second charges are:

1.5GlobalStar Call Charges

(a)Automatically connected calls are available to GlobalStar satellite phones located within Australia and overseas. Calls incur a flagfall of $0.30 ($0.33) per call and the per second rate below.

(b)Charging commences at the time a connection is established and stops when a call is terminated. Calls are charged per second. Call Charges include the flagfall plus the charge per second multiplied by the duration of the call and rounded up to the nearest second and cent.

1.6GeoVerse Call Charges

(a)Automatically connected calls may be available to GeoVerse numbers. Calls incur a flagfall of $0.30 ($0.33) per call and the per second rate below.

(b)Charging commences at the time a connection is established and stops when a call is terminated. Calls are charged per second. Call Charges include the flagfall plus the charge per second multiplied by the duration of the call and rounded up to the nearest second and cent.

1.7Thuraya Call Charges

(a)Automatically connected calls are available to Thuraya satellite phones located within Australia and overseas. Calls incur a flagfall of $0.30 ($0.33) per call and the per second rate below.

(b)Charging commences at the time a connection is established and stops when a call is terminated. Calls are charged per second. Call charges include the flagfall plus the charge per second multiplied by the duration of the call and rounded to the nearest second and cent.
