Salary:$65,000

Bonus:Up to 10% of salary

Position Summary – Open February 11, 2015 until filled.

The National Sales Manager has the overall responsibility of attracting the group meetings market to Sonoma County, excluding group tour, weddings, and International programs. This position oversees Southern California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah account responsibility. The National Sales Manager reports directly to the Director of Group Sales. This is a full-time salaried exempt position, based from a home office in Southern CA, with special assignments and responsibilities outside of normal work hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities included butarenot limited to the following:

  • Responsible for reaching measurable goals for lead generation, sales calls, tradeshows and other activities.
  • Responsible for project management on assigned tradeshows, client events, site tours, sponsorships and other programs. Project manager is responsible for registration, reports, lead distribution, shipping coordination with sales administrative assistant, and wine and amenity requests.
  • Maintain accurate records for: contacts, leads, assigned programs, sales reports, tradeshow trip reports, group contracts, correspondence, expense accounts, and other appropriate documentation.
  • Develop regional strategic meetings market programs with Director of Group Sales to include stakeholders to cohesively sell and increase awareness of Sonoma County’s hospitality and lodging partners.
  • Maintain knowledge of the destination’s offerings as related to meetings market.
  • Maintain Certified Tourism Ambassador status.
  • Maintain active membership in key organizations such as; MPI, CalSAE, SITE.
  • Work effectively with volunteers, SCT staff members, committees, city and county officials, hoteliers and hospitality industry staff in selling Sonoma County Tourism Bureau area as a group market and leisure destination.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Group Sales and/or Chief Sales Officer.

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of three years experience with a convention/visitors/tourism bureau, hotel, convention center, or hospitality industry related business. Current CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) status is desired. Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university with academic course work in a relevant discipline (i.e., tourism/hospitality, public administration, communications, journalism, public information, business administration or other closely related fields of study).

Requirements:

  • Travel is required for this position. Must be willing to travel by car or plane, have an acceptable driving record , validdriver’s license, and provide own transportation.
  • Must work from a home office with minimal administration support.
  • Ability and willingness to frequently lift and carry, or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to promote the entire Sonoma County for overnight stays and extend stays in the county.
  • Agriculture and wine industry knowledge and experience including a comfort level and knowledge of the products offered in Sonoma County highly desired.
  • Network of contacts with tourism related entities both within and outside Sonoma County.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and diplomacy in a wide variety of public contact situations. An excellent communicator both orally and in writing.
  • Goal-oriented, reliable in meeting deadlines, well-organized and a consensus builder
  • Excellent public presentation and interaction skills
  • To perform this job successfully; an individual should have knowledge of CRM Systems and MS Office software suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; and Simpleview software.
