PLTW Engineering empowers students to step into the role of an engineer, adopt a problem-solving mindset, and make the leap from dreamers to doers. The program’s courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers. Students take from the courses in-demand knowledge and skills they will use in high school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they may choose.

PLTW Engineering courses are part of theAP + PLTW engineering pathway.

Students can earn college elective credits for each of the 5 courses offered

Building a Strong Foundation for College and Career

Prerequisites/Requirements:

• Students may apply in Grades 09 -11. Not open to seniors, 12th graders.
• Students will need to provide their own transportation to Linganore High School
• Students must have earned a letter grade of C or higher in one of the following math courses:

• Common Core Math Honors
• Common Core Algebra 1

• Students must have a GPA of 3.0 to apply
• Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Students must complete all the courses in the program, starting with Introduction to Engineering Design

• Students dropping the program must return to their home schools

Required Course Selections:

1st course: (Must take First) Introduction to Engineering Design - IED

2ndcourse: Principles of Engineering - POE

3rdcourse: Digital Electronics - DE

4thcourse: Civil Engineering and Architecture - CEA

5thcourse: Engineering Design and Development – EDD

Important Dates:

• Applications will be accepted starting fromFebruary 15thuntil March 1st
• Applicant’s will be notified by March 15th

Completed Application Must Include:

• High school transcript (see your school counselor)

• Two letters of recommendation from current teachers
• A personal letter from you explaining why you would like to be part of this program
• Completed application
