National Ministries is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Ecclesiastical Endorsing Agent. This position is open immediately and is based at the MissionCenter, Valley Forge, Pa.

Key Duties and Responsibilities The Ecclesiastical Endorsing Agent is primarily responsible for managing theendorsement and career development of American Baptist military and institutional chaplains, pastoral counselors, pastoral educators and others in related disciplines. The Ecclesiastical Endorsing Agent supports the work of the American Baptist Committee on Chaplains and Pastoral Counselors. This position also has a vital role in training “leaders of leaders,” developing strategies for transforming leaders and identifying and forming emerging leaders. As a member of the Program Ministries Team, the Ecclesiastical Endorsing Agent works to increase the capacity of American Baptist leaders to excel in implementing effective ministries of evangelism, discipleship, transformation and prophetic justice, provides support to the NM Strategic Mission and Goals, and supports NEW LIFE 2010 goals; especially in the areas of caring ministries. This position requires travel, approximately one-third of the time.

Competencies and Skills Required The successful candidate will be a self-motivated problem-solver, who is willing to work hard. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with experience in chaplaincy or pastoral counseling. The ability to build and cultivate relationships with traditional and non-traditional ABC partners is required, as are excellent writing and oral communication skills. The successful candidate must possess excellent administrative and supervisory experience.

Education and Experience The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in divinity or education, or equivalent experience; be an American Baptist endorsed chaplain or pastoral counselor. A minimum of five years experience in ministry and supervising others is required. Clinical training in pastoral care and counseling required.
