The 27th Annual National Hunting & Fishing Day celebration is rapidly approaching. This ever-growing event has attracted over 3,000 visitors in the past. National Hunting & Fishing Day is a very important event for the public with repeat attendees looking forward to the fourth Saturday in September. We sincerely and deeply appreciate your volunteered time, for without you, this event could not take place.

Below are guidelines and information, which we are asking you not only to follow but to help enforce.

I.Preparation prior to NHFD: If you have not turned in a booth name, number of persons and booth requirements, please contact Adam Einck at 225-765-2465 or .

Booth set-ups will begin Friday afternoon at 12 p.m. Set-up as much as possible on Friday to eliminate confusion on Saturday morning. The grounds will be unlocked at 6 a.m. Saturday, September 24 for final set up. You must be completely set-up and signed in by 8 a.m. Past attendance records show that approximately 300 people come in between 8 and 9 a.m. even though the official opening time is 9 a.m. By 10 a.m. almost 2,000 people are on the site.

II.Registration and Information Booth: Registration will take place in front of the education building. An information booth will be provided under the pavilion after registration is finished and the event is underway. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. This booth will provide the following:

  1. Name tags.
  2. Door prize tickets. You must be present to win. Door prizes are for volunteer workers and exhibitors only. Write your name and exhibit title on your ticket. Door prizes will be awarded at the end of the day (3 p.m.) at the education building.
  1. Lost and found (including children).

III.Parking and Traffic: Parking is very limited and will be strictly controlled. Please cooperate with our volunteers directing traffic. Only vehicles carrying materials, supplies, equipment, etc. needed during the course of the day will be allowed to park inside the grounds. ALL UNNECESSARY VEHICLES MUST BE REMOVED BY 8 AM. Vehicles entering after 8 a.m. must have prior approval or on-site approval at the gate from the site coordinator. Temporary parking on the grounds will be allowed only for set-up, unloading, etc. before 8 a.m. All other volunteers need to park across the street.

Speed limit is three (3) miles per hour.

Please be on time!

IV.Food: No alcoholic beverages. Coca-cola, water, hot dogs and all tasting booths are free to everyone. If there is a line please get in it. Do not go behind booths to get food or drink. Check with the Registration Booth for details on food for volunteers. Please do not eat at your booth if possible.

V.Commercialism: There will be no form of sales or promoting of outside products, services or commodities, either direct or indirect on La. National Hunting and Fishing Day with the exception of LDWF sales. Third party product sales and promoting will not be allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule and all involved will be told to leave the grounds immediately.

VI.Music and PA Systems: In consideration of the booth next to you (or in the same area) we are asking that no music (live, taped, radio, etc.) be played from 9 to 3 p.m. A small PA system or megaphone may be used on low volume only if it does not interfere with adjacent booths or exhibits.

VII.Please help keep the complex clean.

No pets allowed.
