American College Testing preparation

What is ACT NOW? ACT NOWis a series of classes in English, math, and science to help you achieve your best scores in each of the three subject areas.

Frequently asked questions

  1. What is the course format? The course is taught by three instructors in their respective fields of English, reading writing, science, and math. Each instructor has a degree in her field and practical classroom experience. The course consists of 4 hours of instruction in each area.
  1. Will this course raise my score on the ACT? Because numerous factors influence outcomes, we cannot guarantee that. We do believe, however, that learning certain test-taking strategies and practicing this test can help a student gain the confidence and knowledge to perform well on the test.
  1. How often are the classes offered? ACT NOW is offered before each of the six ACT testing dates. Classes must have a minimum of 15 students enrolled in order to offer the class. Since more and more colleges are placing stronger emphasis on ACT scores, our classes fill up quickly.
  1. When should I take the class? To best prepare you for the ACT, you should take the ACT NOWprep course immediately before taking the ACT. Some students prefer to take the ACT first, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and then take the ACT NOW prep course, then retake the ACT test.
  1. Can I take the class more than once? You may take the class as many times as

you wish. However, because of our large numbers, we must have a registration

fee for each student attending. Handouts and practice exercises may or may not

change between each course taken.

  1. What if I have to miss a session? We do not recommend enrolling for the class if

you feel you may have to miss more than one session. We cannot offer a makeup

session. However, we will offer you copies of the handouts for the missed

session if requested.

  1. What if I’m late or have to leave early? If you find that you have to do either,

please enter or leave quietly. Be sure you received all handouts and be sure to

practice exercises you missed.

  1. What should I bring to the class? We will provide handouts which can be written

on. You should bring a pencil/pen to each session and calculator to the math

session.
