3. Loose leaf paper

4. Graphing Calculator (recommend TI 84)

5. Graph paper (printfreegraphpaper.com use the default settings)

I understand that graphing calculators are expensive, but it is necessary this year for the End of Course Assessment (and you can learn how to use it now for the ACT) . It will also make your life it this class much easier. You should bring it to class every day. If you continue with the honors curriculum you will get a lot of use out of your graphing calculator. A graphing calculator will be extremely beneficial for the first test. If it is not possible for you to buy or borrow a calculator before the first test, please let Mrs. Gano know by Monday August 10th.

Where your grade comes from

Tests: 80%

Homework: 10%

End of Course Preparation: 10%

Your grade will be calculated using a standards-based grading system. Your grade is earned by demonstrating mastery of the skills on tests. Each skill will be scored on a 4 point scale. There will be opportunities to retake tests if you demonstrate that you have practiced the skills and have improved your understanding.

Throughout each term, there will be assignments, constructed response questions, and multiple choice assessments designed to prepare for the EOC test. These assessments can not be re-taken. There is an End of Course Exam in May. The EOC exam makes up 20% of the final grade.

How to get help in class:

There is after school tutoring available Monday-Thursday. I will post the schedule when details are finalized. I stay after school one day a week until 5:00. You can also catch me right before 1st hour or after 7th hour for 20 minutes most days. Let me know that you are coming for tutoring in advance so I can be sure to be in my classroom.

Make-up Assignments

  • If you are out of class on a field trip, your assignment is still due on time when you return to class. Be sure to ask for the assignment the day before or get it from the online classroom
  • If you have an excused absence, I follow the school policy. You have one day for each day you are absent to make up the work you missed

Additional Interesting Information

You have 3 hall passes each quarter. Each unused pass is worth bonus.

Each semester you have 2 homework passes. A homework pass gives you an extra day to complete an assignment for full credit.
