4. HEAD GREENKEEPERS REPORT

Greens

1.Verti drained with 12mm tines at a depth of 11".

2.Spike with 8mm tines at a depth of 4".

3.Sprayed with weed killer.

4.Sprayed with Fungicide.

5.Top dressed with 20 ton of sand and brushed in.

6.Sprayed with Tough Turf mix and seaweed and wetting agent.

7.Hand weeded greens.

Aprons

1.Spiked with 8mm tines at a depth of 4".

2.Sprayed with weed killer.

3.Top dressed with 20 ton of sand and brushed in.

4.Over seeded with Fescue.

5.Cleaned around all green side sprinklers.

Tees

1.Spiked with 15mm tines at a depth of 1".

2.Over seeded with Fescue.

Fairways

N/A

Practice Ground and Driving Range

1.Over seeded with rye grass on Driving Range.

2.Top dressed Driving Range with 20 ton of sand.

3.Sprayed Driving range with N + FE + seaweed.

4.New fence on Driving Range.

Volunteer Help

1.Mesh at ends of path and over seeded and top dressed.

2.Cut bushes back on 4th path and sprayed.

•Comments from Chair, congratulations to all in respect of Tenby Golf Club being listed as 8th place in Top 100 clubs from 9th.

•Comment from R.H. to take example from Aberdovey Greens Chair who has progressed their Club high up the rankings.

Action - arrange to confer with Aberdovey Chair.

•JG indicated we still need a moisture probe at cost of £1K if we are to indicate to STRI that the greens are improving and can be measured.

Action - HGK to check finance have allocated funding for probe and purchase.

5.VOLUNTEER HELP PROGRAMME

John Gilman volunteered his services to oversee the volunteer programme and in particular the following items:-

•Cut back the buckthorn around 2nd tee (white box) to improve view of footpath.

•Continue cut back of buckthorn on 4th tee and other identified areas.

•Improve pathways.

•Clear the Black Rock.

•Cut back trees on 16th tee.

6.HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES

•Complete the fence between 1st fairway and practice area to protect 1st winter tee.

•Taken from Membership Services minutes - sign on approach to 10th green re teeing off the 7th.

•In the event of using tee left of rock will require hand rail on rock side of steps.

7.COURSE WALK

See actions completed on chart for members information. (See Appendix 1)

8.ANY OTHER BUSINESS

•Summary of time spent by green staff working on the course (Appendix 2). The pie chart shows the amount of time being put into making the course as playable as possible is only 70% of what is required to fullfill the requirements of the G.P.D. Therefore to comply with the G.P.D. it is advised that a further member of staff be taken on by Greens.

Action - for discussion at Board meeting.

•Further observations in respect of bunkers, paths, steps were discussed for winter programme and volunteer involvement.

•Project work itemised in (Appendix 3) together with volunteer work in (Appendix 4).

•Dedicated Holes Champions from Committee agreed and to be implemented immediately.

•Commented on by Committee the vast improvement of the bunker raking now that apprentice is engaged on the project. Congratulations to Joe to be passed on by HGK.

9.COMMENTS FROM OTHER COMMITTEES

Finance - require pathway from practice area to 1st tee to be under taken asap so as toimprove takings on Driving Range.

HGK - the pathway will be actioned at the same time as the levelling of the 1st tee and removal of steps on 1st. Will be commenced asap.

Membership Services - require a sign on left hand side of fairway when approaching 10th green to give notice to players teeing off 7th tee.

Board - Defibrillator required out on course by toilets.

Chair - Defibrillator purchased and will be installed.

Trees overhanging road when approaching Club to be cut back

Secretary contacted the local Council and Rail Track for trees to be trimmed back.

Competitions and Handicapping -

•Yellow posts on 16th ditch to be placed in side of hazzard.

•Ditch on 16th to be cleaned out.

•Path on 9th to have rail fitted.

•Letter from John Ball re winter rules.

Golf Challenge to greens staff to be played 8.30a.m. Friday 22ndDecember, 2017. Teams

of 8/10, 4BBB.

Greens Committee members not available please inform Chair ASAP.
