WHATISPODDTRAINING?

  • Childrenwhoarenonspeakingorhaveonly limitedspeech,in addition to otherchallenges,oftenstruggle to interactandcommunicate. This mayincludechildrenwhohavephysicaldisabilities,multipledisabilities,sensoryprocessingchallenges,limitedsocialinteractionsskills, and/or a rangeofcognitivelimitationsandlearning difficulties.
  • This two daycoursewilldemonstratetheuse of a PragmaticOrganizationDynamicDisplay(PODD)approachdevelopedby Gayle Porter(Melbourne,Australia). Generictemplatesfor multi-page‘light tech’ communicationbookshave beencarefully designed to supportgenuine communicationforavariety offunctionsthroughoutthe day. Thesetemplatesmay becustomized for arange ofaccess methodsandotherindividualneeds.
  • Come learn strategies for creatingmulti-modallanguagelearningenvironmentsthat provide receptive models andexpressive opportunities for languagedevelopment.Learn strategies forteaching andusingPODDwithchildrenand their communication partners.Videosandcaseexampleswillbeshared.
  • Participants will havean opportunityforhands-onpracticewithPODDCommunicationbooks.
