1  DOCUMENT PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide the guidelines to include content in the Details page for data, maps and applications.

Note that the Details page content for a Web Map is slightly different than a Web App as the Web Map page automatically presents the layers used by the Map. For this reason, the content requirements for Data, Web Maps and Web Apps have been described separately. See "What is the difference between a map and a web app within the context of the website?" for general information about the differences.

2  Feature or Map Service Layers Details Page

2.1  Overview

When an item is created and is being saved for the first time, the user must enter content into the Title, Summary and Description and Tags (1 required). After the item has been saved this information can be revised, and additional information added, by editing the Details page for the item.

In order for the data to be published to "Public", it's security level must be "Publicly viewable".

Note that if:

·  The data is available in the BC Geographic Warehouse (BCGW);

·  There is a related MPCM Layer file; and

·  There is a related metadata record registered in BC Data Catalogue;

the ArcGIS Online Details page will be created for you by a scheduled automated process.

Otherwise the data:

·  Must be registered in BC Data Catalogue; and

·  The ArcGIS Online Details page must be completed with content as described in Section 3.2.

2.2  Content Requirements

The following is required for hosted Feature Layers and Web Services that are components of the Map/App. For a Feature Layer, if there is a related Service Definition, the Service Definition content should be the same as the Feature Layer.
