Prerequisite: Reading Techniques or Asset equivalent

This course gives the student a basic knowledge of medical terms used in the

health care setting. This knowledge will enable them to become successful communicators in the health care setting. The format presents terminology within the context of rootwords and use of prefixes and suffixes. It is designed to stimulate the student thinking process including Proper use and pronunciation of medical terms.

  1. Recognize and write the meaning of prefixes, suffixes, and combining

formsthat are presented

  1. Write medical terms by possessing knowledge of root words, prefixes and

suffixes

C. Write the correct element when presented with its meaning

D. Analyze medical terms presented in the material and define correctly

E. Write the correct medical terms when presented with its meaning or

description

F. Demonstrate understanding of the rules for using elements by combining

them correctly to write medical terms

G. Correctly use and pronounce medical terms

H. Interpret the meaning of medical terms used in written and verbal communication.
