Task

  • Prepare and present a 5 – 7 minute PowerPoint presentation in your team.
  • Topics that can be chosen are listed inside this document.
  • Your PowerPoint must include a list of resources you have used in the last slide.

Preparation Time

  • You will be given 3 lessons to prepare; at least 2 of these you will be able to use a computer.
  • You can prepare outside of class time.
  • After your last computer lesson it will be one week until your presentation date.
  • On the next page fill in the lessons that you will be in the computer lab and presentation date.

What you are assessed on (see the marking rubric for more details)

  • The PowerPoint itself (Group Mark)
  • The presentation (Group Mark)
  • Your ability to work in a team (Group Mark)

Emailing the presentation

  • As a team you need to email the presentation to ______3 days before the presentation date.
  • Also give your team and which class you are in.
  • This is the version that you will be presenting.
  • You should get a reply email within 1 day of submitting your email. If you don’t get a reply, please get in touch with your teacher ASAP.

Topics

  1. Identifying and naming angles – types of angles: acute, obtuse, right, straight, reflex and revolution
  2. Triangles – different types of triangles and their propertiesincluding: right, scalene, isosceles, equilateral, obtuse and acute angles triangles.
  3. Working with angles – different types of angles including: adjacent, complementary, supplementary and vertically opposite angles.
  4. Angles and parallel lines – defining parallel lines and the transversal, discuss the different types of angles made, including alternate, corresponding and co-interior angles.
  5. Data displays – different types of displays: stem-and-leaf plot, dot plot frequency histogram, divided bar graph and sector graph.
  6. Area of 2D shapes–calculating the area of different 2D shapesincluding: rectangle, square, parallelogram, kite/rhombus and trapezium.

Marking

  • The scheme for marking in in the rubric on the next page. Follow it to make sure that you can get the best mark possible.
  • As a team you will be asked to mark the presentation after you have presented. Your teacher will also mark the presentation.
  • In the last 10 minutes of each lesson you will be asked to complete a sheet about your team working together. You will get it back the following lesson.
  • Your teacher will be observing your ability to work in a team during all lessons and give you an individual mark.
