2. / Fun Mats
The teaching staff are encouraging the children to do a family themed picture for their fun mat. The company needs them back by no later than 26 January 2012 . We are aiming to sell them across the two parents evenings on 22 and 23 February 2012 and the cost will be £2.50 each. Order forms will also be available on the night to order other products from the company and payment must be taken in full for the mat and anything else ordered on the night. We will need volunteers to sell on both nights. Jo to email out and draw up a rota nearer the time as volunteers may wish to wait to see which date their parents evening slot lands on. / JW
A flier/leaflet with a price list will go out in school bags prior to the 22 & 23 February with full details.
3. / Spring Fayre!!!
This year’s Spring Fayre will be held on Saturday 19 May 2012 and it was decided a Wild West theme would be a great idea. After discussion and feedback from last year, it was decided that we should operate in Teams again. If anybody does not wish to cover the same topic again they are to advise Jo, otherwise the Teams and topics will remain the same (copy of Teams and Responsibilities will be emailed separately). It is suggested that Team members get together outside of the PTA meetings to “brainstorm” for ideas as this proved very productive last year.
If any of the new members of the Committee would like to get involved, please look out for the Spring Fayre email, take a look at the documents and let Jo know what area/s you would like to get involved with.
Jo and Louise will be covering the catering again and Jo is going to look into using Millers Butchers this year as they do a hog roast. Jo will also speak to Mrs Carter (School Kitchen) about doing hotdogs and fries. / JW
Shelly Drury advised that she is going to speak to her husband about getting the Grainger Games Hummer to be on the premises on the day. / SD
Jo is going to contact Tracey Leach as she has a contact at the Whitley Bay Guardian, to see if they can advertise it for us prior to the event and given enough notice, they could send someone to cover it on the day. / JW
Emma Hargreaves is going to contact Valley Gardens again to book the Steel Band and she will also book St John Ambulance. / EH
It would be a great idea if children and parents got into the spirit of the day and dressed up as cowboys and Indians. All ideas in the theme of the Wild West will be gratefully received.
Wendy Thompson advised she will ask her employers, Barclays if they will match our takings again like they did last year. / WT
Michelle Maslen had emailed an idea whereby we contact a local car dealership eg. VW to ask if they will donate a car to sit in the yard full of balloons and the kids have to guess how many balloons are in the car and win a prize and we could charge a £1 a guess. Jo to ask Michelle to look into this. / JW
Jo raised the issue of doorstepping because last year alot of the shops had already donated to Priory School’s Fayre as they have theirs earlier than us. It was agreed that doorstepping would start immediately to get in there first. / JW
4. / Cable Recycling
Further to this being raised at the last meeting it was decided we will go ahead with it and incorporate it with the Bag2School date. Jo will find out the date from Louise Hayes. / JW
5. / Any Other Business
Emma and Bev raised the issue of the Panto that comes to the School. It was agreed that the children all enjoyed it and that it would go ahead again, however Emma agreed to feed back to them that perhaps the humour was a little too directed at the adults. Emma will make the booking for next Christmas. / EH/BB
EH
Emma and Bev asked Jo to email out to the Committee to remind them that if anybody wishes to step up and volunteer to become Chair / Co-Chairs of the Marine Park Parents Association then they need to do it well before Summer Break to ensure a comprehensive handover takes place. / EH/BB
We will have a leaving/thank you party for Bev and Emma in June and carry out the handover in July.
We will be holding our AGM on Friday 20 April 2012. The wine and cheese evening last year seemed to go down well so we will go with the same again. All members are welcome to attend.
Louise Hayes reported via Jo that she will present the financial report at the next meeting. / LH
8. / Date of Next Meeting
Wednesday 8 February 2012 at 8.00pm at the Berkley Tavern.
