CONGRATULATIONS....

Please congratulate Harrison Evans, RehanBhiwandiwalla, Estefani Ignacio and Paige Curtis (pictured above) for their outstanding presentations at Saturday’s Fifth Annual Conference of The Committee on Teaching About the UN held at Georgia State. The theme of the conference was Water: Global and Local Issues. Rehan and Estefani presented their IB Biology research project in which theytested water samples from the Chattahoochee River. Harrison discussed the Outward Bound water project and Model UN. Paige presented her Extended Essay in which she tested the effects of a simulated oil spill on single cell algae growth. The audience of K-12 and college educators, nonprofit representatives, and scientists was in awe of their knowledge of research design and limitations. The students were wonderful ambassadors for North Atlanta and for the IB Diploma Program. Other presenters included Chesley McNeal, meteorologist for 11Alive, Dr. Christine Moe, Associate Professor, Emory University, Dr. Eric Mintz, Clark Atlanta University, the Sierra Club, Georgia Aquarium, ProjectWet, World Water Relief, and several others. The keynote speaker was Dr. David Hursh, Visiting Research Scholar, Earth Institute, Columbia University.
North Atlanta also was represented well at the Pi Day celebration on 3/14 (of course!) at Bolton Academy. NAHS students Jim Keena, Toby Hoang, RehanBhiwandiwalla, Emerson Bouldin, Kayla Nelson, Karen Williams, Nicholas Olczak, and Cassia Preston assisted the PTA by running various activities at the evening event.
