Rules and Regulations:
System of Play : The Latest FIDE Rules in force shall apply and the Swiss system will be followed.
Rate of Play : 90 minutes each plus 30 seconds increment per move from move no 1.
Tie–break : Buchholz tie-break system will be applied. In case of tie, prizes will not be shared.
Age Proof : Age proof Certificate must be produced for Children’s category prizes.
AICF Registration : All the participants must be a registered players of All India Chess Federation. Those who are already registered with AICF must produce proof thereof. The AICF registration fee for the year 2016-2017 is Rs.250/-.
TNSCA Registration : All Tamil Nadu players are required to register themselves with TNSCA by paying Rs.100/- as registration fee for the year 2016-17. The amount should be remitted along with the duly signed TN players Registration form plus one passport size photograph and Date of Birth Certificate copy.
KDCA Registration : All Kanchi players are required to register themselves with KDCA by paying Rs.75/- as registration fee for the year 2016-17.
Protest Fee : Protests if any, against the decision of the Chief Arbiter shall be made in writing with protest fee of Rs.500/- within 15 minutes of the occurrence of the incident to the appeals committee. The protest fee will be refunded if the appeal is upheld.
Appeals Committee : A five members Appeals Committee will be formed at the manager’s meeting. The decision of the Appeals Committee on all protests shall be Final and Binding on all players concerned.
Withdrawals : A Player may withdraw at any stage of the event. after informing chief arbiter in writing
Rights of admission : The AICF/TNSCA /Kanchi DCA / organizer Modern Sr. Sec School reserve the right to admit / reject any entry without assigning any reason thereof.
The AICF/TNSCA /Kanchi DCA / organizer Modern Sr. Sec School reserve the right of admission to the venue and lodging place.
Boarding : Players responsibility – Boarding will be provided to the player on the payment of charges.
Lodging: Dormitory type will be provided to out station players & they have to bring their own beddings
Chess Clock: All the players are requested to bring their chess clock if, any.

A short profile
Started as a Kindergarten school in the year 1968 in Nanganallur, a suburb on the southern periphery of Madras with 20 students and 4 teachers, Modern Senior Secondary School has blossomed into a senior secondary school with classes from LKG to Standard XII. It was affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi in the year 1977. The first batch of students (boys and girls) sat for Standard X Board Examination in 1980 and then in 1982 for Standard XII Board Examination. All these years, the School has been blessed with cent percent passes.
The School has a student strength of about 2800 students (boys and girls) at the commencement of the current year 2015-16 and a staff strength of about 120 comprising two Ph.D’s and 7 M.Phil’s besides a number of Post Graduate, Trained Graduate, Primary Grade and Kindergarten teachers with support staff.
The School is showing great importance to Co curricular and extra curricular activities. In particular, the School is giving special coaching in chess to its students, which has paid rich dividends. The School is very proud of one of its alumni, K.Sasikiran, Grand Master and Arjuna Awardee in Chess. Following in his footsteps, the School has a host of eminent chess players.
The Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi allotted to the School, the Southern Zonal Chess Tournaments in 2004 and 2006 under its Competitive Sports Programme. The final all India Chess Championship was conducted in the School in 2007.
With this background, the School is now venturing to conduct
Modern Senior Secondary School International Rating Chess Tournament
Every year, starting from the year 2008, this is the first ever International Rating Chess Championship at the School level.
