Meeting Minutes

The Norman Park Elementary Local School Governance Team met on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017, at 12:00 pm. The meeting was held at Norman Park Elementary School, 249 Weeks Street, Norman Park, Georgia,in room 206.

School Governance Team Members Present:

Stacey Rutledge, Wendy Stuckey, Rodney Hurst, Jennifer Key, Michelle Daniels, Lia Bakerand Heather Roberts

  1. Call to Order

-Principal, Stacey Rutledge, called the meeting to order at 12:05 pm.

  1. Items from the Audience

-No items brought forth from the Audience.

  1. Approval of Agenda

-Stacey Rutledge distributed the agenda and read through its contents.

-The February 2nd, 2016 agenda was approved by unanimous consent.

  1. Approval of Minutes

-Wendy Stuckey read the Meeting Minutes from the December 8th, 2016 meeting.

-TheDecember 8th, 2016LSGT Meeting Minuteswere approved by unanimous consent.

  1. Principal’s Report

-Mr. Rutledge reviewed personnel announcements. Letters of Intent were distributed among all staff members. As of now, all faculty intend to return to Norman Park for the 2017-2018 school year. There is an upcoming meeting with District Leadership to discuss budget needs, planning, curriculum, and intervention.

-Mr. Rutledge discussed Finance and Resource Allocations with the committee. He explained that Administration has put together a list of needs for Norman Park School using the Title I budget and Title I carryover budget that will be discussed with District Leadership.

-Curriculum and Instruction werebriefly discussed. Chrome Books have been purchased and the 4th and 5th grade classrooms are currently using them. Student use and participation with the technology has proved to be positive. PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) has been adopted county wide as a means to support schools and students with positive behavior changing strategies. These strategies where introduced to students and faculty during a January fine arts program.

-Lastly, Mr. Rutledge reports on current School Operations. 4th grade classrooms will be attending the GA Agrirama in Tifton for an upcoming fieldtrip.

-A second computer lab in the Guidance Room is being constructed using computers from upper grade classrooms, in order to accommodate needs for testing.

-Spring fling dates were discussed.

-Mr. Rutledge informed the committee that Modules 6-9 need to be reviewed and signed-off on for formal training of the LSGT.

-Upcoming school events listed on the Agenda were reviewed and agreed upon amongst the group.

-With no further business to come before the Governance Team, the meeting was adjourned at 12:42pm. Meeting is adjourned. Vote: Yes
