Typical Uses.

  • External protection of tanks, valves, pipes and ducking.
  • Protection of electrical components for the automotive industry.
  • General protection of structural steelworks, metal pilings and other constructions.

Reasons for using Hydroprene.

  • One component quick air cutting.
  • Unaffected by many salts, alkalis, certain oils and acids.
  • Tough yet resilient with good adhesion.
  • Long life expectancy.

Properties.

Finish. Resilient, semi-matt black and non porous.

Coverage. 3 M² per litre at 75 microns dry film thickness.

Adhesion. Excellent adhesion to many metals, concrete and wood. For certain surfaces such as concrete, a primer is required. Refer to separate data sheet.

Properties continued.

Temperature Resistance. Approx 105o C (Dry Heat)

Saltspray Resistance. Excellent.

Oil Resistance. Excellent to most oils.

Chemical Resistance. Very good resistance to many chemical fumes and splashes.

Application Instructions

Preparation.

Metal should be clean dry and free from any contaminants or oils. Concrete should be fully cured, clean and laitance free. Wood should be clean and dry with the surface wiped with solvent to remove any natural oils.

Application.

Apply by brush or roller at 75 to 100 microns wet film thickness. Allow to cure between 45 minutes and 25 hours for subsequent coats. For Dipping a typical build of 75 microns can be obtained per coat. If the maximum overcoat time be exceeded, the surface should be softened using Hydroprene thinners prior to application.

Hydroprene Thinners.

If required Hydroprene Thinners may be added to the liquid Hydroprene to reduce the viscosity, typically 10% is sufficient.

Add the thinners to the liquid Hydroprene and stir slowly using an air driven drill and paddle, or a flameproof electric drill and paddle. Small quantities may be hand stirred.

Avoid breathing the vapour and use in well ventilated areas. Refer to the Hydroprene Health and Safety data sheet for full information on thecorrect handling of these products.
